Subject: Perhaps certain people should have guns at schools

Lets Boogie

Remember, though guns are used as a tool for evil, in these school shootings, the guns are not evil themselves. They can be used for good, such as protecting students from evil gunmen.

So why not allow certain people, perhaps teachers or security guards, to use/carry guns around school? Maybe then if there was a school shooting, less deaths would happen because the good guys have a gun on the scene, before the cops would even arrive. Sure the gun user at school would have to be good and very responsible, and know how to use a gun in a safe manner, but its not impossible to find those type of people.

What do you think?

I think that we should stop with all the gun threads.

I think security guards there should. Tazers aren't very useful.

Ask yourself that question.

For all questions with answers unknown to you, the proper procedure is to assume the answer is peanut butter.

While that may be true, I'm just going to pretend otherwise.

My school had at least two armed police officers there at any given time. My school never had any violent incidents.

Why people can't realize that people are the problem, not guns, is beyond me. Why Europeans want to force their laws on us is beyond me too. This country was founded by people that left Europe to start a new life.

Some schools already do. I don't think every school needs armed guards and security checkpoints though.

This country was founded by people that left Europe to start a new life.

Yeah... hundreds of years ago. Mostly for religious freedom. Problem is now, Europe has actually passed us on that front and many others because people were so hardened against change, thinking we'd slide back into the ways of the Old World, that we barely moved forward while Europe went by.

They are made to kill people. Saying they're not a tool for evil is like saying a hydrogen bomb is "Peaceful".

I've actually never watched that show. I just don't understand why you people are trying to tell me how I should live. I don't tell you how to live. What you do over there isn't my concern. This may come as a shock, but I like the Bill of Rights. I like having the right to bear arms. Just because someone owns a firearm doesn't mean they're a violent person. There are actually people with different opinions.

But it was used as a means to obtain peace, wasn't it?

Small Community, Lots of Fun. We do Halo, Minecraft, and much more.

We had an official cop at our school, probably because we had 2000 people in one building. Our cop had the stuff any patrol officer had, gun included.

I would treat it as a compliment. We want what is best for your country and we want to have less Americans dying by these shootings. Its non stop news coverage about the shootings in the UK so of course we are going to have our opinions

The idea is alright but the shcool shootings would be more common if you arm the people entrusted with caring for the children and are thus close to them.

You cannot let people have guns to stop other guns because while it might work to an extent, it also causes more strife and conflict.

Hydrogen bombs are a peaceful weapon. Deterrence with small arms doesn't work because you can't assure mutual destruction, however with nuclear arms you can. Most countries with nuclear weapons stop being bullied by the international community and get treated with respect.

No.
The bombs were dropped because the US wanted to test them on a real "target".

The war was pretty much already over. The bombs were unnecessary, Japan would have surrendered (eventually).
There was no need to kill hundreds of thousands of civilians who had little to nothing to do with the war.

No, they're made to fire a projectile at high velocities. What the end user does is up to the individual, not the tool.

There are guns made specifically for competition.

If I wanted to live in Europe, I would move to Europe. But, guess what? I don't want to live in Europe, and every country doesn't need to be like Europe. What works for country A does not necessarily work for country B.

Sometimes it is not evil when you kill someone. It depends. If cops shoot an armed man trying to kill his family, did they commit evil? No, they were protecting the innocent from evil doers.

Yes guns are designed to kill and even kill people, but that does not mean guns are evil.

Remember, all murder is killing but not all killing is murder.

Cops and other good citizens can use guns for good.

What about North Korea? Do you think it's "good" that they have nukes?

Umm you do know that some Japanese Generals were planning to assassinate the emperor and continue the war, even after the first bomb was dropped right?

"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

We had a police officer posted at my high school.

Sort of relevant, but not really.
