Rustled Jimmies

I bet some of you are SAYING "OMG Guns are bad we can't have more people using them!" Well let me prove my case.

Who will get there faster? You or the Police?
In an event where there is someone attacking you or your loved ones, whos going to get there quicker? You or the Police? Now I'm not saying "Go put yourself in danger and go after the guy" I'm saying if the danger finds you you are better prepared to defend yourself and love ones.

Less Crime
Yes, believe it or not, more open and conceal states would lessen crime. Someone who wants to steal something from you would want to live long enough to either sell it or use it. Now, if that person is in an open/conceal state, what are the chances of you having a gun? The would be thief wouldn't know if you have one, so he wouldn't try to steal it so he wont risk his life.

Save lives
Someone is in your house and is trying to cause you and your family harm, now you called the police and the dispatcher said the cops will be there between 15-30 mins. Now you have a gun and the intruder is coming up the stairs. The cops haven't come yet and you need to protect your family.

this should help a little

Now, to help stop people from causing mass murders, before purchasing a gun, the buyer should turn in a recent medical form to show that they don't have any mental illnesses. While it wont stop the people who are mentally fit but still want to cause harm that well, most shootings are from people who are mentally impaired.

Plus a class to educate people who to protect themselves and the proper use of a gun and what you can do and not do with a gun. And you'll have to provide proof that you passed before purchase

How about people who aren't trustworthy being able to get a hold of guns easier?

I am not anti-gun but this seems like a major flaw in your thinking...

Pretty sure you can already use a gun in your own home.

Its sometimes hard to say who is trustworthy with a gun, thats why i left that out. I can't single people out by just saying that i don't trust them with a gun when i barely know them

In some states you can in others you have to give them a warning to leave and if they leave your house you cant shoot them

There was a lockdown at my school about a week ago. The reason was so little that it's not worth mentioning.

However, we all thought that it was real and that there was some guy walking around with a gun. If I had an M60 on me, I still would have been scared -blam!-less.

My point is even if everybody was carrying a gun, someone going a rampage like that would just scare everybody. An average person doesn't know how to handle a situation like that. It would probably just exacerbate the problem if a bunch of scared people were carrying guns.

Who is the cop / court going to believe, the person breaking into the house or the person defending himself?

thats why there needs to be a mandatory education class so the average person knows what to do

That's just sickening that there needs to be a class teaching people how to handle a person going on a rampage.

Perhaps instead there may be some form of way to get people who would do stuff like this psychological help.

I'm not talking about how to react if there is a massacre, i'm talking about basic defense. One of the things that needs to be taught is that if there is someone trying to take your life then you need to act in a way to save yours, either that be taking the assailant's life or wounding him but in a life/death situation, some people need to be prepared

I think that's common sense. But this was an elementary school. You can't seriously expect 5-10 year olds to be able to fend for themselves should this happen.
