This and
the only reason Bungie would help is because they totally care, they wouldn't make it about a video game. Bungie in my opinion is way above doing something like that.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

It's a nice thought, OP, but this isn't like a natural disaster or other occasions where Bungie has sent money or aid. While the loss for the affected families has been tremendous, I don't think that it money or supplies would really help in this situation.

And I agree that if they were to do it anyway, it should not be in order to promote a new video game.

Pretending to show goodwill to promote new game? I dunno, OP. Feels like a real shallow thing to do.

"I would kill to get a killionaire... 10 times... digitally."

You were golden in my eyes until I read that last part OP. Dead kindergarten massacre is NOT the appropriate place to promote a game.

On a side note, it's really weird seeing my little state that never gets publicity plastered all over the internet.

Using this tragedy in any way to generate publicity is extraordinarily bad karma; hell, that kind of classless exploitation would turn even some of the strongest of Bungie supporters against them.

I'm sure everyone at Bungie is as horrified by today's events as the rest of us, but I'm not so sure they should get involved because, no matter how pure their intentions might be, it could easily be misconstrued as a grab for publicity.

In the US, it's wise for video game companies to distance themselves as far from shootings as possible.

If one attempted to do the opposite, it would have to be pulled of masterfully, and honestly it doesn't seem possible right now. You don't see any other companies stamping their logos on this event... well, besides news companies.

To be fair, none of the events Bungie has done for charity have been to promote one of their new games.

Agreed, it's just what they have on hand at the time. For example, the Hearts for Haiti emblem count.

Astronomy Picture of the Day!

Sometimes an event is so tragic and unbelievable that it would be offensive for one to offer more than just their condolences. I would say that this is one of those situations.

Ugh, are we seriously going to have this thread every single time a tragedy / disaster occurs?

What do you expect Bungie to do? Donate to every single bad thing that happens?

Bungie isn't a charity, it's a game developer, that's why there are groups like the American/British red coss ect. :)

Inappropriate. Went a little to far with the butt hole tearing.

What exactly can you give to people who've lost everything?

Bungie can't exactly bring people back to life or turn back the sands of time.

[Announcement Trailer] Halo: Forerunner

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

With something like Haiti, while there were people who died there was also the destabilizing element of having homes and communities destroyed in a physical way (in which case monetary aid could speed the recovery effort).

A killing spree, while at least as equally tragic and perhaps more so, leaves a void that won't be filled no matter how many donations roll in. Although I wasn't personally effected by this it's still difficult for me to actually address (I had previously worked with both the NRA and the Brady Campaign to try to come up with real lasting solutions to these problems - apparently to no avail. To see them happening on what seems to be a monthly basis is...hard) - I cannot imagine what it is like for their family members. I don't think monetary aid is on the top of their needs list right now.

While your head is in the right place (err...somewhat), this isn't the best idea. I'd say that if you really want to help, take an honest look at the tragedy and try and find the truth behind the problems that caused this and how we as a society can work towards solving them. It's something I wish our leaders would have the courage to do...

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

The shooters brother (not confirmed 100% if it is his Facebook) like Mass Effect and hundreds upon hundreds of any mobs descended on Mass Effect facebook and said it was evil and called for the game to be banned.

I don't think OP meant anything offensive but these people don't need money, they just need time to mourn their loss and we need to respect their privacy.
