All this talk of guns, why need it be lethal? Have one designated teacher go through the proper training and responsibility evaluation, then have a locked locker with a small tranquiliser gun and two spare darts. Maybe a handheld taser. In emergencies this man contacts a second teacher and they unlock it together. It also has an emergency radio to the nearest police station. Some spare cuffs for when the intruder is subdued.

The killer not only is stopped, but will hve to face the law, rather then get th luxury of dying.

Guns are a much more effective means of stopping a threat immediately.

I've got a fan!

That would only make the teacher a bigger target.

Teachers aren't immune to being bad either. Also, you run the risk of the kids getting hold on them. More weapons, lethal or non-lethal, is not the answer.

No way.

The truth here is that these incidents are so sparse that there's no reason to take such drastic steps as arming every classroom in the country. They're tragic, yes, but there's no simple way to just stop bad people from doing bad things.

Signatures are for little kids.

We need to put guns in the hands of every person on the Earth..

Only then well people be free from gun violence.

I say simple security systems and armed security guards would halt most of these events.

I agree.

It's sad, but not shocking in any way.

Getting shocked about another mass shooting in America is like being shocked when you throw dynamite into a volcano and it explodes.

Oh yes, well that just solves everything. Militarized schools, 15ft bared wire fences, pat-downs and metal detectors at every entrance.

Is there any point in dramatizing my comment?

All I mean by security systems is doors that lock from the outside with security guard doormen that open the doors for parents, Then leading them to there child if they need to take them out of school early, and then close and lock the door.

I went to Google and typed in "fat people keyboards."
All I saw pretty much was an advice column and fat jokes. :(
I do not think they make them.

Well..

Yes, let us waste hundreds of millions in giving teachers proper training, deployment and usage of a weapon instead of getting more books and improving the school.

There are better things to put money to, as school-shootings happen too rarely.

Don't forget guard towers, search lights, heli pads, Hydra 40 rocket and ammo stocks.
Make sure the jets are fueled and ready with SMART bombs and AGM's.

Yes, there is a point in exaggerating your comment. As I said before, such a drastic step is completely unnecessary because of how scarce these attacks are.

This. The cost of supplying every school with these, let's be honest, probably ineffective, security measures would be huge.

In that case I suppose you don't support new gun regulation?

In which case I would agree.

I was just thinking that, it started just as a tranquilizer gun in a locker but then i thought it needed more 'Safety measures' because otherwise it might sound too dangerous to the white middle aged men in politics who wouldnt consider it to be a good idea to pass as a law.

  • 12.14.2012 5:58 PM PDT

hmm

Some teachers would abuse the weapons. I'd probably too, imagine how fun that'd be...
