Subject: Has anyone seen The Hobbit?

To be spoiler-free, it's a wonderful movie that deserves better than its Rotten Tomatoes score of 65-ish%. Many scenes followed the book verbatim, and the additional content added from the appendices of The Return of the King increases the anticipation for the future films. There were a few deviations from Tolkien's lore that I was a bit iffy about, but by the end of film 3 I suppose I'll like these changes a bit better. The CGI is impressive, and the scenery is gorgeous as always.

Basically this OP. I just got back from The Hobbit and it just blew me away. I'm sure that people are giving it bad reviews because they haven't read the book and trying to base it of LOTR.

Good to hear.

Just got back from the film. Loved every second of it, can definitely see how ita going to be three movies. I finished rs reading the book last night so it was all fresh. Yes Jackson and co change (or tweak) a lot of stuff from the book bit non of it is for the worse. In fact I really like the addition of the Azog plot as it actually sets up The Battle of Five Armies unlike the book where there is nothing more than "the goblins got riled up and decided to strike".

I loved it. I know it has mixed reviews from the critics but most of those negative reviews are old school critics throwing their toys out of the pram because of the HDR technlogy looking too strange.

Read this for a great article about the high frame rate, why its good and why a lot of people are up in arms about it.
