Subject: So I finally saw The Dark Knight Rises.

It was okay, but it wasn't even close to as good as Garfield 2: A Tale of Two Kitties.

Struck me as the sort of film that'll become dated very quickly.

I don't see it. Tasteful CGI; solid script; plus best film rendition to date of the adventures of a modern folk hero- these things taken together must equal some pretty decent longevity.

~:O>~~

I think the one thing I did take from this movie was how it succeeded in making us care about the Bruce Wayne character, there was a lot of serious moments where it did seem melodramatic, but it was justified and you can really get a sense of what the people in this movie were going through. The only gripe I have about the movie was how ambitious and over the top it was in it's story and situations, but being the last film I think it needed to go that route however my taste and I think a lot of other people's taste was aligned more with subtlety... the more a movie may seem it could in fact happen in real life, the more engaging and visceral it will allow itself to become.

Per Audacia Ad Astra!

TDKR is still good but TDK is better written, character are more develloped and storytelling is almost perfect. I think Bane was good, but Cotillard was useless, her character don't bring nothing to the story (even with the plot twist at the end) her death let me indifferent.

And he entered the service of the Dark Tower when it first rose again, and because of his cunning he grew ever higher in the Lord's favour; and he learned great sorcery, and knew much of the mind of Sauron; and he was more cruel than any orc.

The primary distinction between the Dark Knight and the Dark Knight Rises was that the former felt like a fantastic Batman movie, whereas the latter felt like a fantastic movie with Batman in it. There's nothing wrong with that, but I can see how that'd be a turn-off.

if they're still showing Rise of the Silver Surfer on TV, I'm pretty sure Dark Knight Rises should age fine

It'll last, sure, but that doesn't change the fact it'll look dated.

Agreed. The Dark Knight had continuous scenes of action and events that kept me hooked. TDR was forgettable and honestly Bane is the dumbest villain. The Joker was way better developed.

>implying The Dark Knight Rises wasn't great
>implying Bane wasn't much better than Joker
someone get this hothead outta here

I thought it was pretty good. Not the same quality as TDK, but it was still pretty good. The ending was a fitting way to end the trilogy, although I didn't care about how it was less about Batman being Batman, and more about Wayne trying to be Batman. Still a good movie nonetheless.

"Right now it is raining methane on Titan. The planet Uranus is, hilariously, orbiting the sun sideways while Venus spins backwards. We sit here on a planet marked with collisions, rocked by earthquakes, shaken by storms. A planet doomed to be fried in radiation as its magnetic fields collapse, until the sun grows and leaves nothing of the earth but dust. Here we sit, glasses on our noses, inhalers in our pockets, braces on our teeth, and we say "Behold the perfect ORDER of it all!""

I'm guessing you mean Talia, and the plot twist was essential in having Batman fake is own death, which let Bruce escape his life he's been wanting out since even TDK and live his own life, a new beginning.

I thought it was almost on par with TDK.

And lol, people who don't understand the story call everything a plot-hole.
Agreed.

  • 12.15.2012 5:42 AM PDT

The movie didn't need Batman at all.

  • 12.15.2012 5:47 AM PDT

I'm your biggest fan!

It's a fine example of a well-produced bad movie. A polished turd. 6/10 would hesitantly watch again.

Are you really using this argument in a fictional film?

Kinda did. Without Batman, Jim Gordon, Catwoman, everyone in Gotham, would have been killed.

Dark Knight > Dark Knight Rises > Batman Begins. All great movies though.

TDKR was just inception in batman

  • 12.15.2012 6:18 AM PDT

I still need to watch Batman Begins first.

Yes. I can't imagine how low your IQ must be for you to feel the need to ask. I also like the way you cut out all my other points.

To be fair, fiction's essentially entertainment. I don't go to a movie to get a scientific lecture behind everything, unless it actually pertains to the plot.
