I'm sorry, but I was really disappointed by the animation they used for The Hobbit. It looked ugly, like Narnia or something. And the Orks and Wargs looked different from LotR. Almost cartoony.
This frustrated me. Did it to anyone else?

They filmed it in 48 frames per second, while The Lord of the Rings was done at 24 frames per second. The Hobbit loses that cinematic feel and begins to look uncanny at times, so they say.

I wish they'd've used less CGI. Overall, however, it still had those moments in it. Maybe not quite as epic as the LotR ones with the massive army/army battles, but it added a new fanfare which is just as satisfying as the LotR one. Also, I've always loved Martin Freeman. From The Office (UK) to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, I've always found him to be a very natural actor and feel that much of the genius in his acting is, more than likely, adlibbed (which makes it all the better).

Overall, I don't think it deserves the criticism it's gotten and that it's unfairly being compared to the LotR trilogy when being rated rather than being rated objectively (see: Metacritic and RT scores).

The Hobbit was A) only one book and B) not as interesting as the LotR trilogy in book form, so to compare the two when reviewing it is silly and unfair.

Signatures are for little kids.

I'll bring my 7 year old to it but I'm not expecting it to be better than Wreck It Ralph.

So the world might be mended...

I disagree that it's not as interesting as the LotR trilogy, I loved it. You are missing the fact that it was also written for kids.

I'm talking in terms of the fact that less -blam!- happened because, as per point A, it was only one book. It's not it's own fault, its NLC's for making it 3 movies.

The Hobbit was incredible for the story it's being created from. The beginning half was somewhat slow, but it really picked up pace and became very enjoyable. Using CGI on all the orcs was somewhat disappointing, but I don't think it really took away from the movie. The locations, music, characters, etc. still work very well, but do not compare this to LotR. It's a light-hearted story that doesn't deserve the comparison it gets to a trilogy that consisted of characters saving all of Middle Earth.

You want bigger battles and more action? Just wait for the final battle at the mountain, -blam!-'s going to be amazing!!!

Like the LoTR trilogy, the first part was some what slow with a couple of small skirmishes, then the second one has much more and then finally is capped off with a huge battle at the end. Same will be for the hobbit.
