I was J/W if the fans out there would like to beat or see bosses in Halo 3 or not.

Or if they enjoyed that part of the game in Halo 2 and would like to keep it for Halo 3 or remove it.

Thanks

I liked the bosses in halo 2, except the final boss Tartarus. So in halo 3 I would like some uber-enemies like the prophet of truth or Gravemind.

No thank you, bosses are way too cliche.

Tartarus was just bad... the others weren't so much, but I'd still rather no bosses. I prefer large scale battles over boss battles.

Agree totally. Totally ruins the flow of the gameplay and the atmosphere, plus is really cheesy. Halo didn't have them, why did Halo 2? The first two weren't terrible, but tartarus was just ..... horrible.

They intergrated Boss Battles into Halo 2 really well, it flowed nicely in the gameplay but the relization of being stuck in a room for the soul purpose of killing one super enemy is (as stated) cliche. However, if it was to forward the story, I wouldn't mind.

No bosses, please. Large scale battles and intense situations are much more exciting. Fighting a boss feels too much like Mario or Ninja Gaiden, instead of saving the universe.

a combo of the two would do rather nicely, intense firefights, wars, etc, then every now and then kick some bosses across the room. that would be sick

Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield saved at Typewriters.

Ryu Hayabusa saved at Xbox Consoles...What more do you want.

Seven is darker.

I prefered the encounters with gold elites over bosses.

Gold elite encounters = a threat that could be beaten with a variety of tactics; shoot, bosh in the back, run them over.
Boss encounters = a threat that can only be beaten in one way; be it finding the origonal copy of the heratic/ snipe to take off shields and pummel with firepower.

Hunter pairs = a nice fresh threat from the foder of grunts. (ok hunters were MUCH better in halo 2, but i enjoyed counters with them than bosses)

and i chose to use those encounters as exaples, because shiska said something about gold elites and hunters being bosses in halo 1.

Halo's a hell of a drug.

Don't do it too much and don't end the game on a boss fight. Plus make the bosses smarter. I'm tired of figuring out their route and then doing the same moves over and over again till they are dead.

A point which, in my opinion, is just sophistry. A boss is a boss is a boss. People know what a boss is. Just because the Halo 1 campaign is punctuated with encounters which display a boss-like mechanic or role in the game's progression does NOT make them the same thing. They are a world away from actually duking it out against some cartoonish super-enemy, they do not create the same interruption of normal gameplay and do not require as much suspension of disbelief.

The ends of the Halo 1 levels were much better. Get on the last lifeboat after defeating the Red Elite on The Pillar of Autumn. Complete the three marine saves (in any order, mind you) on Halo. The three rooms with Elites (Gold, invisible, invisible with swords) to save Keyes on Truth and Reconciliation. The escape from the map room in The Silent Cartographer. Opening the big doors at the end of Assault on the Control Room (with the awesome music). It just goes on and on. No wonder I never get tired of it.

It would make this game challenges if they had bosses. the bosses would have to be changed slighty so it doesnt get boring

If the bosses are seamlessly integrated, I think it would be fine. However, being stuck in a room with a gimmicky enemy does not feel good in Halo.

For example...Imagine the end of Assault on the Control Room from Halo CE. Now, would it have changed too much if Tartarus was among the hordes of enemies you had to defeat? Perhaps Tartarus could direct traffic, or have a FRC, or use a tank, or something. But I agree with a poster above, implementing mechanics mid-game, that are only useful at that moment in the game, is jarring to the experience. No. Also, you could forward the story elements that depended on those characters deaths...

It might be cool also if Halo 3 'bosses' behaved more like Nemesis from RE: Nemesis, in the sense that there is no rhyme or reason to when they appear, but as you are exploring a level, they pop out and assist your foes.

Bosses need to be implemented. How else would we get to see MC take on Gravemind, or MC take on Truth, or since we have the Arbitor to play as...how about the Arbitor verses MC...that would rock for a twist ending. Imagine having to kill your hero, the one demon that no one could kill...that would be the ultimate boss. Other than that, I would like to see more hunters, it'd be like a six pack of deadly aliens that would chase you and hunt you down through an entire level.

so if MC won we got one ending, and if the arbitor won we got another?

i don't know. the only boss battle that felt like a boss battle was with tartarus. i didn't even think of the other battles as boss battles until i read them just now.

maybe some boss battles. but i want bungie to make them creative. none of the classicly cliched..........

oh -blam!- the monkey/dragon/robot/giant spider has kidnapped/activated/destroyed/stolen the princess/superweapon/ecostabalizer/magic crystal and is waiting for you above the lava pit/on mt doom/on a cloud/in the mines/in the control room. You must stop him with the giant sword/burning flame pillars/bottomless pit/his own powers/the help of a friend!

Boss routines = Boring.

Sorry they were great in the days of the SNES/N64 but now i think everyone is tired of "make him vunerable, hit him, then repeat like 3 or 5 times (any piramid number will do)."

But Halo 2 did do it well, especially Regret, i love the way the boarding mechanic was implemented into that battle and made for some epic jumps onto his little chair.

The Heretic leader was pretty poor, would have preffered a banshee/foot battle, but he wasn't as bad as that mohawked ape...

Tartarus, he was too dumb, why didnt he just whack out a fuel rod cannon and blast Sergeant Johnson to hell (c'mon he's great and all but he was sniping like a jackal wuss).

Or even better they could have made him use the tractor beam on his hammer like he did to 343 Guilty Spark. That could have made some intresting moments. He was you get for Halo 2 being forced to holiday 2004 release.

Basically though, Halo 3 should be able to handle all this and have Bosses who actually challenge your skills and intuition.
