I've already made up my mind about this and I'm joining after Community College whether my parents like it or not.
Good, so I won't waste my time trying to change your mind.

Good luck, hope you get some awesome wars to fight in!

I've got a fan!

No sense in going to college for two years just to enlist. Get your degree, go to OCS, put some butterbars on your collar.

P.S., go Navy.

Please do not send me group invites.

You know that you don't have to do 2 years at community college and 4 at a university...just 2 then 2.

If the military will pay for your degree then do it, it be good to have a backup and more qualifications.

Ultimately it's your decision. Doing community college first isn't a bad idea, because certain branches have incentives for college credit. For example, the Air Force will start you off as an A1C (E-3) if you have 47+ credits upon enlisting. Just food for thought, a little extra money in your pocket every month.

And yes, the GI-Bill will pay for a good majority of your college as it's worth about 52K as of now.

Oh yipee, another person who thinks that joining the military = being on the front lines! :D
Hardly any wars have frontlines anymore. Most of the work is done from afar.

Get a two year degree then join the military. You will be a higher rank after boot camp just because of said degree.

Also, you doing a 2, 4, 8 year contract? or what?

Yes, this is true. However, the VA will only grant you the full benefits of the GI Bill (or Post 9/11 Bill) after a certain amount of Time In Service has been met (3 Years).

Also, you need to be Honorably Discharged.

If I recall before you rank up don't you have to start from the bottom or can you apply directly into the non combat positions beforehand?

Planning on being Electronic Warfare specialist in the Marines. So it's a 5-year contract because the job school for that takes 64-80 weeks.

Alright, smart man.

The minor jump in rank is hardly worth 2 years of effort in college. OP'd be better off getting his bachelor's.

Close, but the plague killed those infected with it, and the ignorant are still alive.
I wish ignorance was a plague.

I am probably going to join the military after university.
