Get a two year degree then join the military. You will be a higher rank after boot camp just because of said degree.

Also, you doing a 2, 4, 8 year contract? or what?

Planning on being Electronic Warfare specialist in the Marines. So it's a 5-year contract because the job school for that takes 64-80 weeks.

Just bear in mind the needs of the Corps come first and you should not bank on getting a specific job.

I've already made up my mind about this and I'm joining after Community College whether my parents like it or not.
Good, so I won't waste my time trying to change your mind.

Good luck, hope you get some awesome wars to fight in!

Oh yipee, another person who thinks that joining the military = being on the front lines! :D
I was just hoping for you dude. Somebody must be fighting on the fron lines, for what you guys shell out in military funding.

If not fighting, I at least hope you get to bomb some guys standing beside goats in a field from afar with a remote controlled drone.. Those things are WICKED!

Joining the army to push some papers around seems like joining for the wrong reasons.

Yep. That's how my buddy ended up as a Navy Corpsman instead of doing something else.

Whoops, sorry. I usually see so many anti-war people on threads like these. :s
Not me, I love war.

I'd marry it if it had a body.

'murikah

I assure you plenty of Americans are not pro-war. I'd wager even a majority of them are not.

Might you take this test? I could possibly offer insight.

I know, I know it may seem off. I'd appreciate it though

I got INFP.

Hmm

This is your decision to join, not mine, however the military is usually considered a ESTJ environment. I am referring to the myer briggs type indicator, here. Divides 7 billion minds into 16 individual types. Made over 100 years ago and still used today. Anyway, it doesn't mean you are going to die or anything. The military may not be an enjoyable experience for someone of your type. The I (introvert) means you are introverted (duh) and you probably like working alone, whereas the military works in teams. Sensor is best for being a soldier, compared to intuition (which you have), thinking is better than feeling for being a soldier. Being a J (judging) is better than P (perceiving) because you will have an easier time following routines and the likes.

Sorry that was sloppy and poorly constructed.

This describes the whole thing better about the INFP personality

I say join right after high school. You can use the GI Bill when you get out of the military and it will pay for everything. Also the military can prep you for college and give you skills to make you're time there better.

Or enlist, then go through one of the officer candidacy programs, and commission after getting a degree.
