Subject: What's the beef against video game related Tattoos?

Wake me, when you need me.

Usually when someone gets a tattoo that is related to a video game, it is regarded as something stupid. I don't understand why though. Maybe that video game that they decided to brand themselves with has been a big part of their life and they wanted to pay homage to it by making it permanent. I myself don't have any tattoos, but I do in the future plan on getting one Halo related tattoo. Why? Because that series alone has been a big part of my life for the last 10+ years. People get tattoos of something that has been apart of their life, and that's not normally regarded as something stupid. So why deem video game tattoos as something stupid? I'm just ranting because I see it brought up every time someone showcases their new tattoo that has something to do with a game and I don't understand why.

I suppose this can be a tattoo related thread. Do you have any tattoos? Are you against them, for them, etc? I'm currently an unemployed college student, so I can't afford any at the moment. But I do plan on getting quite a few in the future.

Because video game tattoos are seasonal. It's like getting a Zelda tattoo during the Ocarina and Majora's Mask era, then having the series get progressively worse over time.

Chicken go cluck cluck cow go moo

I have pokemon tattoos, and I have an ewok tattoo. In fact everyone's jealous.'

They do represent other things and have further meaning though. It's not just like OMG TEH SQUIRTLES IS A QT.

Evil, always finds a way!
Gnarl: Overlord

because tats have always been looked at like it's the edgyest thing that a human can do to himself, and all of the tryhards thinking their different from everyone else because of their retarded actions and ridicolous beliefs get butthurt because now even the "nerds" get to tattoo themselves

And some people just think they're kind of pathetic because dedicating a part of your body to a hobby just isn't their style

in·dif·fer·ence
the fact or state of being indifferent; lack of care or concern and empathy demonstrated by an absence of emotional reactions.

Because I hate all tattoos.

I'm planning on getting a tattoo of the Moon from Majora's mask or getting the symbol of the Dark brotherhood from TES.

I think it's fine if you get a tattoo from a specific game. But, for example, I'd never get the Triforce or whatever.

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

Video games are generally seen as a waste of time.

If you value a video game so highly that you want it to be displayed on your body forever, society thinks that aint right. I couldn't care less what you want to get on you. Just don't judge me for what i get.

I think we're at that point in society where video games are generally accepted as compared to ten or more years ago. But for real, someone could simply get an emblem or marking tattooed that's from a video game that has deeper meaning behind it than just being from a game.

Recon Number 54 -
If they are still looking, then while holding the snarl, I let drool start to drip from my mouth, I stand, curl my fingers into claws and with a hunched over crouch, I then make slow and deliberate steps towards them. When I get close enough, I let them hear my agonized and gasping growls and then, if they continue to stare, when I get within arm's reach? I kiss them on the nose, and run away giggling.

If it is done well, then they can look really cool.

But having a full sized Mario on your back will look pretty stupid.

Good Example

Bad Example

A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.

I personally would never get a video game related tattoo, sure you can be a fan and video games can be considered an art, but honestly I don't think they're on the same level as music and such. It's a bit rude, but I think they're for nerds, I love video games, but no game is as important and meaningful to me as my favorite band or some event in my life.

I don't shun or disparage people with propensities that don't harm me, but I don't think it the most prudent choice, especially later on in life, as your likings and interests may change, and you'll look back on yourself and find it too stupid and shortsighted of you. I mean, we always do stupid things, but we only deem them stupid with a hindsight, but it's totally up to you. But I do agree that Halo is tattoo-material, because it may be perennial.

EDIT: I've just read your questions. I'm a Muslim, thus tattoos are prohibited for us, but I think they're awesome and... rebellious. I know, it sounds stupid. Cheers.

My friend got two identical birds, one on each foot. They had no meaning to him and he got them in a third world country.

Is this the definition of stupidity?

If you're a zombie and you know it, bite your friends.

The Flood Theory of Deterioration: q(p)=(qi)e^(-p/r)

Where q(p) is the quality of the thread as a function of p posts, (qi) is the inital quality of the first post, p is the amount of posts and r is the e-peen of the original poster.

I have no problem with video game related tattoos. The only one I've been considering getting is this, but with actual norse runic symbols around the edge.

That's pretty awesome. I'd probably get an image of Baphomet.

It's not obviously a video game tattoo, but it's cool if someone recognises it as one.

That would be interesting. Why do you want to get that?

I have a very mixed background. I am predominantly Dutch-Celtic, though I am 6th generation Canadian on my dad's side. Which is why I'm planning to get something like this as my next tattoo.

There is also a small bit of French, German, Danish and Swedish in my background. So because of the Nordic background I'd rather use proper runes instead of the game's symbols.

It's nothing to do with my heritage or any particular game, rather my neutral lifestyle and to remind me to maintain a natural balance. Which I suppose is reflected in games with moral systems.
