Subject: 2 dead after shooting at Las Vegas Casino

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Well, if you've seen the chart of gun crimes yesterday with all those gun threads, the US crimes were over 9000, while the UK had 28.

That was not the question, my point was that even with strict gun laws there are still violent crimes and people just use knives and other weapons which are just as deadly.

Knives are not nearly as deadly as guns. What are you talking about...

If you stab someone with a knife you can kill them just like how shooting someone.

My point is that criminals will just switch weapons or illegally get guns.

Are we also going to ban HIV? People die from it like every minute! Oh but wait, much like guns, YOU CANNOT GET RID OF IT.
Go sit in the corner, and think about what you just said. Think long and hard; let your thought encompass the entirety of what it means to be human. You might be at it a while, so I will allow you a beanbag.

"Right now it is raining methane on Titan. The planet Uranus is, hilariously, orbiting the sun sideways while Venus spins backwards. We sit here on a planet marked with collisions, rocked by earthquakes, shaken by storms. A planet doomed to be fried in radiation as its magnetic fields collapse, until the sun grows and leaves nothing of the earth but dust. Here we sit, glasses on our noses, inhalers in our pockets, braces on our teeth, and we say "Behold the perfect ORDER of it all!""

Copy cat.

Why are people blaming the guns themselves? Surely the fact that everyone gives so much fame and attention to these killers is a much bigger influence than the killer's ability to gain access to a gun. Either legally or illegally.

You realize that means you must right right in someones face for that to happen? And it's way easier to defend against a knife-wielding psycho than one with guns. Not to mention using knives to kill people takes a lot longer and the death count would usually be minimal (take the incident in China, for example; twenty-some people stabbed, none dead)

I'm not saying knives aren't deadly and can't kill a person, but to say they're just as bad as guns is simply incorrect.

Country: United States.
State: Pennsylvania.
County: Warren.
I graduated from high school on June-11-2011. I'm 19 right now. I'm turning 20 in December. I like playing video games, and board games. I like reading Sci-Fi, and World War II novels, and what not.

"There is nothing better in the world than being better at a video game than someone else....oh wait"

Each weapon does kill, but it's the amount and range that matters. I can kill a dozen people with a gun using one mag if I get the right shot. I can be 15feet away from the people to shoot them. I just have to point and shoot into a crowd.

With a knife I'm lucky if I can get 5. I also have to be right on top of them to stab them. The surprise factor also plays a big role in the knife.

I take it if he couldn't stab a little kid to kill them he probably didn't want to. Considering all he had to do was slit their throat or stab them through the heart, or he was using a butter knife.

People are really trying to push for guns to be banned, aren't they?

  • 12.15.2012 8:02 AM PDT

The ignorance in this thread is outstanding. Daza, that article was spot on.

A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.

Stay safe US Floodians, who knows if you'll be next.

People are bad.
Fixed

Until you people realize that people are the real problem nothing will be done. Stop placing the blame on inanimate objects.

Correct.
Guns don't need to be banned, but they need strict laws. That's why there are hardly any shootings in all of the other top countries in the world. America is far to easy on the subject.

Indeed, just compare shootings with lethal result from Japan a country with strict weapon laws to US.

I highly doubt that.

Doesn't happen in England

Holy -blam!- man this is a great week for guns isn't it?

This is not an uncommon occurrence in Las Vegas, though it doesn't usually happen as much on the strip. I would imagine it is getting more attention than it otherwise would because of the location and other recent events.

I had a very similar thing, only I threw a 14 story building out of a pool and hit a kid on a paper aeroplane.

What the -blam!- is going on this week?!

You do know that more than one gun homicide is committed every day, right? It's just the news reporting more on it since the Connecticut shooting.

  • 12.15.2012 8:48 AM PDT

Right, because strict laws are going to stop the criminals who BREAK LAWS from getting guns, sure stricter laws will postpone spur of the moment shootings, but they will find a way to aquire a firearm..... They always do.

Also, everyone dumbass here saying, "It doesn't happen in so and so country, because they have anti-gun laws," Switzerland trains every citizen with the use of a Sig rifle, and will provide on if the citizen so wishes, and they have the lowest crime rate in the entire world.

Sigh. If a person wants a gun he will get one. This is just one example of something where a gun was not the method of choice.
