Subject: Why do guns need to be banned?

After yesterday's massacre at that Connecticut elementary school, a lot of gun control nuts are going crazy on enforcing the limit of firearms.

Why should we have to limit our use of guns, when it clearly isn't the gun's fault? Do you just see a gun grow legs, walk up, and just start shooting people? No, it's the person wielding the weapon.

A good example would be the incident that happened in China yesterday. A deranged man was able to stab and injure 23 people yesterday, 22 being schoolchildren. From what I've heard, none of them died, but he was still able to do all this damage with a knife.

There is no point in banning or controlling something, when there are clearly other objects that can just take its place. Discuss your opinions and thoughts.

Conversely, you can't go out an kill 27 people by pointing at them and saying "bang".

Both of them play a part clearly.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

Not that I agree, but the anti gun crowd will say that the fact the children lived is all the reason they need. Two societies, one with and one without guns, both have an attack on a school. The one without guns the kids live, the one with guns they all die.

Perhaps this isn't the most appropriate time, but that kind of reminds me of this.

Gun homicide is lower than it really ever has been in the us and because the media blabs about it "ban guns they are evil!". In the 80's there was around 18,000 gun homicides and last year it was down to around only 9,000. But because of the media you'd think it's at an all time high.

Inheritor #156 :p

Tens of millions of people own guns legally with zero problems, 1 person goes on a shooting spree and now we need to ban guns...

Lolno

Less than 1% of gun owners ever harm people with them, why should we ban guns?

Plus it's our right as Americans to own them, deal with it.

Only in Merica since you people don't know how to use them.

Does your claim indicate shooter/victim? Example, criminal vs. criminal, criminal vs. innocent civilizian and so forth...

Yep. Criminals can get guns even if guns are illegal though, so the law doesn't change anything if the criminal is going to get a gun anyway...

And we also need to enforce the current laws we have for guns. Making more laws will not help if we dont enforce the ones we currently have.

Second Amendment was written so that guns would be legal in cases of a Militia - not ordinary citizens.

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed

OT: I don't support the need for a gun unless you are an officer, member of the military or hunter who has passed significant tests. Just my opinion.

For the 80's statistic I believe it was all gun deaths excluding suicides. The 9,000 one I just saw in a link in one of these gun threads from yeaterday or today.

I don't think we need total weapon bans because it is an American right as stated in the constitution to rise up and replace a government when it becomes useless (reinforced by the second Amendment). I do think, however, we need better gun control laws, such as psychological exams for people attempting to purchase firearms and then continued exams on a somewhat regular basis to make sure their mind hasn't decayed since they made the purchase.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Limiting and regulating firearms is not the same as banning them.
