In response to the above posts, this thread was a terrible analogy.

It's pretty much the same exact thing as video game elitists.
Except it isn't. Games and the community are much more complex than music.
No, it was pretty much spot on.

Hardly. The main points of enjoyability and composition of games are different from those of music. Unless you'd just enjoy whatever games you happen to play or whatever music you happen to listen to, which I'd be amazed if anyone could.

Call me Rdog, not RdOG or RdOG1507. I made that username when I thought it was cool to use alternating capital and lowercase letters...

Can't tell if this is a troll thread or not... Music is a form of entertainment. That's why they have concerts. That's why iTunes exists, and iPods exist. If it was a form of "enlightenment" like you, hipster OP, say, then maybe we'd be going to Music Museums or something. Or a Music Gallery.

In the 1970's, everyone listened to music with the intent to brood and reflect on their life.

In the 1970s, there was something called "disco." I don't think people listened to disco music to feel more enlightened.

Maybe that's why disco died...

I was just proving him wrong because he said "everyone" listened to it to "brood and reflect on their life." Obviously not.

This is an excellent parody of a way of thinking that pervades pretty much every aspect of life.

I listen to music for no more than 15 minutes a week. Problem?

I think he meant to say "People who aren't filthy casuals listen to music to brood and reflect on their life"

I like games and music

Isn't this thread a parody thread about what we gamers say about casual games?

It's pretty damn ironic if you ask me.

And the term hipsters? I think it's hillarious what people come up with in self defence in terms of their own pride.

Suck it up

I don't want to start another account for a digital number that has no true value in ten years.

The -blam!- OP? You're just one of those kids who can't get over the fact that a lot of your favorite bands are old and no longer popular or living.

Music can be for both, but music is an art. It is made primarily for entertainment in my opinion. As far as your claim that "casual listeners" are ruining the industry, that's only true for Pop music, but that's because Pop is made for wide audiences who casually listen.

Hopefully, they are just reverse trolling, pretending not to realize anything.

Anywho, entertaining thread.

Sometimes I am tempted to quit gaming. I can no longer play without seeing ponyphags, horrendously bad teammates and mexicans.

Gaming community, I want you to know that you suck.

The difference is that listening to music isn't a team activity.

I like to play Reach for fun. I hate MLG, campers, armor lock, and team killers because they ruin that fun. Deal with it.

Stupid casuals. I listen to win, even if it means camping in one spot to hear a bunch of songs.

Music may be varied, but that doesn't mean that the quality of all music is equal.
Which is a subjective point. There wouldn't be competition or fandoms within music culture if everyone thought that specific music is objectively good or bad.

In response to the above posts, this thread was a terrible analogy. No wonder people didn't catch on.
Wyldfyre makes good points.

It depends on the music. I usually listen to some damn heavy -blam!-... probably not the most socializing environment, so I listen to it by myself. However, when I'm with friends we might have some background music, usually rock, but nothing I REALLY LOVE.
