If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

You people base all of your decisions off of your pathetic feeling for this recent school shooting. This barely significant curiosity of an event, blown out of proportion by the media.

Dude.

18 kids, under the age of 10. They hadn't even started their lives yet. This is why people are so upset. Many parents have young children the age of the ones who died, the thought of that happening to their kids terrifies the crap out of them. Be empathetic.
Why don't you try to make me care just a little harder.

I'm not trying to make you do anything, Just saying. Try to empathize with people a little more. It's amazing how much insight you gain. Whether or not you actually choose to do so, doesn't matter to me.

Maybe if there were security guards with guns in the school then this wouldn't have happened. Fight fire with fire= Solution.

In my old high school we had about 5 or 6 armed security guards.

Breh please. The people who support guns are the ones who lack the ability to defend themselves without them. Stop being the dregs of human evolution.
What does this have anything to do with who can defend themselves and who can't? That's such an idiotic chest thumping, bone headed thing to say. It doesn't matter if someone has the physical ability to defend them self or not. That's completely arbitrary.

No, infact all military guns and variations sould be made legal. However any psychological evaluation that could denote someone to have mental issues and be dangerous with guns should deny them the ability to purchase one.

YouAreBlinking is an obvious troll. Just let him be. He's clearly using fighting words to try and create a heated argument. Let's all be better than that.

OT: I do think stricter gun laws are needed. It's simply to easy for a random psycho to gain access to guns, whether it's buying them (legally or illegally) or using ones accessible via parents and/or siblings. If a gun owner is that irresponsible in which someone else can gain access to their guns, than they never should've been allowed possession of one either. Something needs to change. Children getting massacred has officially crossed the line.

I think being so emotional about this event shows a profound mental weakness. Do we really live in a society where people's emotions are just too overwhelming for them? That's just what this thread shows me. All I see is a bunch of babies, crying over some spilled milk.

ONLY POLICE AND MILITARY SHOULD HAVE GUNS

Why do people put more trust in the police and military. A lot of law enforcement loose thousands of their own weapons every year, the FBI lost over 400, including actual assault rifle which was used in a murder, not a semi-automatic AR-15. Their firearms training is horrible too, most academies have a low standards for shooting. Whats from stopping your local police officer from getting mentally insane, it's a stressful job and they deal with stuff just like anyone else.
Same with military, one Navy SEAL one or two years ago illegally stole a couple hundred rifles and machineguns while on Duty and sold them illegally, some guy in the 90's manage to steal a M60 tank in Texas and went crazy running of stuff. Its not impossible for some serviceman on duty in some base in the US just steal a rifle and shoot up your local school too.

Just because they have training doesn't make them mentally stable.

  • 12.15.2012 12:16 PM PDT

Living in Germany where guns are banned, far away from the US, I don't see where all this support for guns comes from.

I honestly never heard a reasonable argument supporting it. Sure you can't just ban guns now that basically everyone has them, but all this naturalness they are handled with cause a whole lot of unnecessary deaths.

You're a a complete moron and very ignorant, VERY ignorant. Gun control will just take the guns away from people who aren't killing others. If a criminal is going to commit a crime you thinking banning guns will make him any less capable of committing a crime?
Well would a terror attack have to go through years of planning when you dont have gun control? Because I don't think so.

This guy at the shooting just took his mothers convinient guns as they are allowed during his moments of mental breakdown. Though I realize gun control is not a good solution for crime infested countries, but you have very disconnected mind about this. Because this guy was not a regular criminal.

You are correct. This shooting in particular was a fluke too most other criminal shootings. I shooting of this magnitude is appalling yes but it doesn't happen frequent enough for us to just take away one of our highly favored constitutional rights.
It's more than just the thought of controlling guns. It's about controlling our freedom! If we start with taking away a freedom like this then what would be next. We would then be on a downhill trot to destroy the very things our founding fathers sought to protect.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
Thomas Jefferson
I agree and that is excactly why the target was the elementary school and not some protected area.

But don't you think some Americans take their means of protection out of proportion? I'm not saying ban guns, I'm saying - keep in mind, these things here are designed to effectivly kill people.

No point in putting something funny, clever or informative here. Most probably im going to get perma-banned anyway.

I dont even own a gun as of this moment but, even I can see how retarded is asking to ban guns. And this only came up because of the recent shooting! Really? Guns help too, they dont just cause problems. Dont believe me? Then listen to this. Its a fox news debate with Lars Larson advocating for guns over an accident of some football player that committed murder suicide against some dumb -blam!- that doesnt even know WTF she is talking about. Ignore the fired for opinion tthings, just focus on the gun thing. So I say dont even touche the friicking 2nd Amendment.

I would love to know the statistics on home robberies that were foiled and/or stopped in-progress due to the homeowner brandishing their weapon. After all, many pro-gun folks cite they need guns to defend themselves. If that's a reason we are allowed to have guns, I sure hope it's making a meaningful difference and saving lives.

The problem also is that none of these mass shootings are ever committed by criminals, oddly enough. It's always a person who is seriously messed up in their head (note, I am not saying they're insane. That's just an excuse for people being evil). Therefore, the problem seems to lie not only in how easy gun access is in the US, but how people are being raised and developing into these inhuman bastards. That's the more prevalent problem, I think.

Too many

How did I know you were gonna say that?
Now actually tell me a number.
Why does it matter? There should be no kids getting butchered in there own school. It doesn't matter how many

A lot of things shouldn't happen but life isn't perfect. Just look at any 3rd world country. Kids dying and starving, getting killed because of their lack of education or terrorism. I don't see you up in arms about that, but one small massacre and "Ban guns! They're evil!".

People on this forum are terrible at looking deeper into why someone makes an argument.

Maybe he wants to ban guns in the US, because that is best thing he thinks can do to try and keep people safe, keep his friends and family safe. Insulting him is stupid, it never leaves a good outcome. I don't agree with his viewpoint, but I think he can have it.

Where did I insult him? I simply said that one school shooting doesn't justify banning guns from all normal/sane people.

The CIA gave the mexican drug cartel a few thousand guns in Project Fast and Furious. Right after that more people started dying.
