Why not just have more secure Fire Doors that completely lock when a lockdown procedure is in place. Then the offender would be stuck in a section of a corridor in the middle of the school.

what if he kills himself in front of a classroom door and/or window?

Better than the students/teachers.

really? 5 year olds won't freak out when they see someone blowing their brain guts everywhere?

They call me graland.

Or we could just allow concealed carry on school grounds and encourage teachers to carry.

  • 12.15.2012 12:26 PM PDT

Generalizations.
Helping idiots hate other idiots since people have existed.

Let's put cops on campus. Not just colleges, but high schools and elementary schools too.

Thoughts?

We provide free pshychiatrist care for people up to 18, as some would go into a traumatic experience or one who have a mental issue they will be helped up to the age of 18. That way a parent would not hesitate to send his kid to the psych.

And those are the years that makes a difference, trust me.

But oh noes the tax!!!

I dunno... What if he kills himself in front of a classroom door or window?

OT: Compartmentalizing the school would be great until you're locked in a hallway with the gunman.

Shut the -blam!- up. Go fap to math or something.

Log in to old permad account on accident - Lose Blue Bar. Well -blam!-.

The shooter to school ratio is not anywhere large enough to start placing automated defenses. Just stick with an armed resource officer, possibly two.

I intend to live forever, or die trying,

so far, so good.

The main problem is, that none of you seem to be seeing, is the weapons that are used in these incidents.

GUNS

America, You all have one, and do not want to part from them, as you believe is it your consitution right.

It was written over 200 years ago. Laws have changed, The World has changed, Yet you still hold on to this "The right to bear arms".

If guns were outlawed, and you could only have a gun for hunting purposes and a strict license was required for this.

Then the chances of someone who decided he had enough with the world and wants to go nuts, would have a much harder time to do this with a gun. And less people would be killed. Think on how many lives would be saved each year if only hunters were allowed to have guns.

Yes, other weapons could be used. He could even just start running people over in a vehicle.

But most cases a gun is used.

You need to let go of the past and update this law, The right to bear arms is so old, and it is causing you more deaths per year than the Teliban ever has.

Your GUN Laws seriously need to be changed.

Alot of people don't like talking about their mental problems.

Alot of the times friends and family can't even tell when someone close to them is going down this parth. Untill it is too late. It is even more of a tradgerdy that some people choose to harm others and not just themselves.

A better idea is to look at the type of person who goes on rampages, and then do what we can to prevent them from coming to be. Its not as exciting as building armed fortresses to protect kids, but its more effective and cheaper.

They say that the guy was a loner who liked video games which is like 90% of the internet.

The shooter's brother liked mass effect on facebook, nothing else has been confirmed by the police investigation.

These shootings always have preliminory causes, in most cases extreme mental instablity.

Im pretty sure he was autistic

Schools can barely afford teachers as it is, I don't see turret defenses as a viable option...

It's not like the teacher can't have them cover their eyes or hide. Do you WANT them to be shot? I dunno about you, but that seems a little bit worse than seeing the shooter kill himself.

Better idea: We have orbital laser defenses and we have an armory for the students to go into so they can get laser rifles and Spartan V armor so they can kill all TEH AELINS FRUM TEH OUTAR SPAESS.

Lol Im onboard.

Gather around the campfire, once it goes out, it's out for good.

These non-violent methods are ineffective to the point that they endanger the lives of innocents with their incompetence. Shooting the shooter is simply the most sure way that causes the least collateral.

Automated turrets.

I envision large mechs like the ones in robocop saying "you have twenty seconds to comply".

We did it in Australia, after the Port Athur Masicre where Martin Bryant shot and killed 33 or 34 people.

Everyone had to hand in their guns, unless you had a valid reason and a gun license.

Yes, many people were angry, but overall it has been great.

If were a Hunter, you would already have a license and would most likly keep your guns. Some guns became prohibeited and had to be retunred hunter or not.

As long as you don't have a crimanal record you can apply for a gun license and buy a gun. There ave very very strict restrcitons on how guns have to be stored at your house.

This has worked. We still have shootings in Australia, but the numbers have dropped. These are from black markets guns that people got illeagly.

Yes a massicre is still possible but the chances are greatly reduced.

You just need better laws than you currently have. Even you didn't go as far as we did. You can still improve your current gun laws.

I'll admit- they can be improved- How- I'm not sure yet.

But to try to imagine a day of strict gun control in the United States in unfathomable. Weapons, for better or for worse, are as much as a part of the American culture as England's crown.

Logic: Really? Then please explain how there's violence in third world countries. I guess they're all poor due to the large amount of video games they buy.

You mean people with severe mental disabilities? Because you automatically have it, IMO, if you were to shoot up a school, let alone a single person.

  • 12.16.2012 7:31 PM PDT

The problem with identifying a potential shooter, is they usually don't seem any different from someone who's socially awkward. It's not until they do something that you realize, "Oh -blam!-, we should've seen that coming!"
