The main problem is, that none of you seem to be seeing, is the weapons that are used in these incidents.
GUNS
America, You all have one, and do not want to part from them, as you believe is it your consitution right.
It was written over 200 years ago. Laws have changed, The World has changed, Yet you still hold on to this "The right to bear arms".
If guns were outlawed, and you could only have a gun for hunting purposes and a strict license was required for this.
Then the chances of someone who decided he had enough with the world and wants to go nuts, would have a much harder time to do this with a gun. And less people would be killed. Think on how many lives would be saved each year if only hunters were allowed to have guns.
Yes, other weapons could be used. He could even just start running people over in a vehicle.
But most cases a gun is used.
You need to let go of the past and update this law, The right to bear arms is so old, and it is causing you more deaths per year than the Teliban ever has.
Your GUN Laws seriously need to be changed.
You are daft if you think that is even possible.
It would be like outlawing alcohol.... again...
We did it in Australia, after the Port Athur Masicre where Martin Bryant shot and killed 33 or 34 people.
Everyone had to hand in their guns, unless you had a valid reason and a gun license.
Yes, many people were angry, but overall it has been great.
If were a Hunter, you would already have a license and would most likly keep your guns. Some guns became prohibeited and had to be retunred hunter or not.
As long as you don't have a crimanal record you can apply for a gun license and buy a gun. There ave very very strict restrcitons on how guns have to be stored at your house.
This has worked. We still have shootings in Australia, but the numbers have dropped. These are from black markets guns that people got illeagly.
Yes a massicre is still possible but the chances are greatly reduced.
You just need better laws than you currently have. Even you didn't go as far as we did. You can still improve your current gun laws.
I'll admit- they can be improved- How- I'm not sure yet.
But to try to imagine a day of strict gun control in the United States in unfathomable. Weapons, for better or for worse, are as much as a part of the American culture as England's crown.
