I don't see the big deal with what he said, he was essentially just saying that today's culture desensitizes people to killing. He even said this can be through other sources than just video games.
In normal, stable folks, it really has no effect. But in unstable people it can and sometimes does have disastrous consequences.
I believe what he said to be absolutely correct, although I fully disagree with anyone who says that any types of shootings like this are caused solely by video games, or culture as a whole. I believe it's when disturbed and unstable people who, over time, have become desensitized through our general culture reach their internal breaking point through various life/personal issues that these types of terrible acts occur.
