Because that is totally an accurate depiction of the state of affairs. After Britain banned handguns, violent crimes, including -blam!- and murder, skyrocketed. Look for all the facts first.
Please, stop pulling such blatant bull-blam!- "facts" out of your ass.

You utter nincompoop. Crime=/=homicide or even violent crime. Your point is completely invalid.

A complete banning of guns would be as efficient as the Flood's forum rules. Now count, for each person's thread locked, or someone being blacklisted, that person just shot someone.

Also, the US has more people than most countries, and more diversity from those people. As the Framers and Founders often predicted, that diversity will lead to conflict.

It's also that mental health care is being pushed down from where it should be, and that those who have never been screened for mental instability can buy firearms.

Yes, and as such would fall into the same bracket as tax evasion, robbery, automobile theft, fraud, etc etc, the list of non-violent crime goes on and on. Total crime statistics prove nothing in relation to firearm crime statistics.

What I showed was that the majority of the crime in the US is not murders by firearms, which the US ranks 4rd. So before we fix a small problem, let's fix the big problem.

Break down, every single one of you.

I am pretty sure that the US also has a higher population than the UK. So, statistically, it would make sense if more crimes were committed as well.

What? It's supposed to come as a surprise that firearm murders are less common than shoplifting and other petty crimes?

The statistical analysis necessary to come out with a valid pro- or anti-gun control statement is well beyond The Flood.

Don't think that anyone here has taken stats yet.

What's more to say but i live day by day. Never forgetting that my impact on the world isn't that important. Always waiting for the end of the day. Night is the most important. Welcome to my world you will find that the sun is unimportant.

They should make a test that you have to take, before you can obtain the right to own a weapon.

have another

The thing is you're not a criminal until you commit a crime.

Less guns = less crimes = less criminals.

Maybe it's just me but IMO one person getting murdered is a bigger problem than 50 people refusing to pay their taxes.

Britain has a total ban on handguns. They also have the lowest number of deaths by handguns (only 8). I am for the banning of guns. who else agrees?

We also have rampant knife crimes.

Listen, banning guns wont change the fact that people will always find a way to kill other people.

The Universe demands to be noticed, to be seen, and dutifully noted.

What use all those incredible firework dimensions if no eye fixes and reflects, no brain takes notes, no heart moves with passion at the display?

NASA answers the silent cry of the Cosmos for recognition.

NASA is the witness and we fellow witnesses to the endless deeps.

Reducing the ease of which guns are obtained would reduce the occurrence of these crimes - it's not like every mentally unstable person out there would reach out to the black market to obtain guns - when gun ownership is as widespread and easy as it is now, these events will occur on a regular basis.

And people that say that people will always find ways to kill other people - these rampages would not have occurred with a knife or a baseball bat and more intricate means of killing are most likely beyond the majority of American citizens.

If you're a zombie and you know it, bite your friends.

The Flood Theory of Deterioration: q(p)=(qi)e^(-p/r)

Where q(p) is the quality of the thread as a function of p posts, (qi) is the inital quality of the first post, p is the amount of posts and r is the e-peen of the original poster.

Something to consider for the picture in the OP. Canada, Switzerland and Sweden all have legal gun ownership. They just have more stringent regulations about obtaining a firearm.

Banning them out right is stupid. The problem is not the gun itself. The problem is the culture that surrounds guns. Places like Canada see a gun as a tool. Something used to defend yourself, hunt or practice with at a range. From my experience many of the gun owners in the U.S. see it the same way.

The problem comes in that there are people that see them as a solution to a problem. Someone has wronged them in some way, so they want to hurt them for it. The easiest way for these people to do so is with a firearm. That itself doesn't make firearms bad. It just means you need to be careful about who gets them. More importantly though, this attitude of I've been wronged, I must hurt those that wronged me needs to be dealt with.

<(-_-)> Teh mokey is not amused

Anyone looking at that list (assuming it's true) can't deny that the US has a far higher handgun death count than all the others combined. One can also not deny that it has very relaxed gun laws in comparison to most of them. There appears to be a correlation...

You can say blah blah people will use knives and baseball bats, but a baseball bat isn't always going to instantly kill someone if you hit them in the head with it. The injuries take more time and effort to make with melee weapons.

I'm not saying ban firearms outright, I'm just saying you can't deny the US's current handgun laws are insufficient. That or the USA has several hundred thousand more mentally insane people than anywhere else.
