Subject: Casual moviegoers have ruined the film industry.

The cake is a pie

Eh? I'm a casual moviegoer, and it's not like I enjoy the crap they dish out. It's kinda like a gamble of satisfaction every time you go see a movie nowadays.

"Right now it is raining methane on Titan. The planet Uranus is, hilariously, orbiting the sun sideways while Venus spins backwards. We sit here on a planet marked with collisions, rocked by earthquakes, shaken by storms. A planet doomed to be fried in radiation as its magnetic fields collapse, until the sun grows and leaves nothing of the earth but dust. Here we sit, glasses on our noses, inhalers in our pockets, braces on our teeth, and we say "Behold the perfect ORDER of it all!""

Oh -blam!-, how dare someone spend their time sitting on their couch watching a 4 hour long piece of -blam!- instead of going out and actually doing something. You're an idiot.

Isn't it great when people who can't realise when something is a parody calles the OP an idiot?

Yeah, makes you look like an idiot. Which you are.

*claps*

It's funny because I can make the same exact argument against Floodians. Knowing every -blam!- parody thread and meme on a sub-par forum that is only here because of a video game is equivalent to memorizing every -blam!- license plate you drive past. Get a life, good sir.

Will you show me where I rustled your jimmies?

Hmmm... sounds familiar. Oh that's right, just like how AK and the rest of the casuals ruined the gaming industry.

Any PM's (about my armor) sent over Bungie.net or Friend Requests (for my armor) over Live will be unanswered/declined. Sorry! All you need to know is that I was given my armor because I fulfilled one of the secret requirements for Bungie Day 09. I am a pre-owner of Recon!

Christopher Nolan would like to have a word with you.

Memento, The Prestige, Inception, The Dark Knight Trilogy, etc.

The list goes on.

Disagree. If you look hard enough, you can find good films. And if you can't, make one yourself!

Years ago, we used to get long movies with deep plots that required you to think. Nowadays, we get one hour and a half pieces of crap that are made for the ADHD casual moviegoer.

These films have no plot whatsoever. They're made to be flashy with an over-reliance on explosions and other special effects, and utilize poor camera (shaky cam) and editing techniques. All to satisfy people with the attention-spans of rats, the casual moviegoers.

Gone are the movies like 2001 and The Godfather. In their place we have Transformers and Taken.

Thank you, casuals. You have ruined my precious film industry.

Agree, or disagree?

Inception was pretty good, that came out 2 years ago, what the hell are you talking about man....All the great directors have gone, Spielberg doesnt do as well as he used to because he's done it all!

Nolan's films are incredibly pretentious. Hardly thought-provoking or deep.

How are they pretentious?

You're probably going to call American Beauty and Traffic (directed by Steven Soderbergh) pretentious too, right? Seriously, people need to get off their high horses, about movies, games, music, etc. It's just annoying.

  • 12.16.2012 3:05 PM PDT

Thought-provoking? I thought movies were supposed to be entertaining. My life is a lie...

"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle- victorious"

My movie ratio is 1223445544554/0. Get on my level noob.

Into the wild, 2007.

I do not want to stop asking. I do not ask to stop wanting.

Easiest way to look at it: Jurassic Park franchise.

Original was my favorite movie of all time. Sure, the paleontological inaccuracies were pretty ridiculous at times, and there were some flaws in characterization, but they made the movie even more lovable, in my opinion.

Second was just some action flick with incredibly realistic Dinos (though still not paleontologically correct).

Third was some degenerate -blam!- that makes me lmao each time I see it. Though I still can't deny that it was at least a decently made movie, it's worse than the second and lol compared to the original.
