No worries. Just expect it to be of a lighter tone...like it is in the book.
Lighter tone as in not as much action and gloomy? I haven't read the books, but I'm planning to eventually.
Tolkien wrote The Hobbit basically as a bed time story for his kids. Everybody liked it so he followed it up with LOTR. It's not really childish, but you don't get a sense of impending doom like you do watching the LOTR movies.
There is plenty of action.
