It's a different reason than what I'm seeing on here. I don't want the amendment to be revoked becuase then it givin the government the power to revoke an Admendment. Becuase if they can revoke one Admendment through biased media and propaganda, then what's to stop them from revoke any other amendment they choose?

If amendments are clearly broken, (and they are) they should be changed.

Watch out. If I post in your thread, chances are it'll die. I've been cursed, and if I kill your thread, I'm sorry.

While political conversation is forbidden on these forums (last time I checked), I agree. Also, it makes sure that the people can at least have SOME form of power in the event them deem the people in power not doing what they were elected to do and they don't want to leave office.

Key

The percentage of the country who wants the 2nd amendment revoked are probably <1%. Most people who aren't pro-gun are pro-reform, not pro-abolition.

Maybe because something that was signed over 200 years ago had intentions that have been completely changed thanks to the advancement of technology.

Its still against the rules to talk about it because people get too butthurt whenever religion or politics get brought up in conversation.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Who defines what is broken?

I honestly think it should be revoked and be left to the states. It really does depend on the geographical location and population density.

The second amendment is in no way in danger of being revoked. What needs to happen is stricter gun laws and much more extensive background checks.

As the world changes, so should the rules. Priorities have changed since 1776.

Remember those times when we all had something better to be doing, but didn't do it? Those were good times. Gooood times

Even if the do, how are they even going to begin confiscating the... what is it, 15 million weapons or so?

This. For example: the 3rd amendment. Relevant in 1776, hasn't been relevant in 100 years.

I am against gun control but to be fair they repealed the amendment about banning alcohol.

  • 12.15.2012 7:26 PM PDT

Gun control aint gonna do -blam!- at this point. Just because we ban guns doesn't mean people can't get them. There's always a way and plus pretty much everyone owns a gun. An no doubt if they try to ban this -blam!- a civil war will break out once again.

The amendments weren't chiseled in stone by the hand of God. They need to be altered to fit the changing society.
