I dunno if you guys can help, but lately I've been having issues opening the disc drive on my Xbox. I end up needing to put it on its side and clicking the eject button a few times before it finally pops out.

This can't be very good for it, so I was hoping I could find out whats causing it or fixing it. I'd rather not have to send it in or something if I don't have to.

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

Probably because you don't have a disc in there. Leave a game in the disc drive and your problems will be solved.

i have disc tray problems too but i think it's due to overuse but i find giving it a light hit on it's left side makes the tray open

What doesn't kill you, only makes you stranger

Mine did it too. Sometimes taking off the face plate will help.

I eventually had to start prying mine open before I just replaced it.

I prefer to be the man in a mask.

I have an xbox with that issue, leaving a disc in it works for mine.

Argle argle!

That happened to mine once but it hasn't happened again.

  • 12.15.2012 6:46 PM PDT

It's been happening to me also OP, do you keep a disc inside?

  • 12.15.2012 6:46 PM PDT

Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

Try Xbox.com.

Just remember that no matter how terrible you feel, or how much you want to let go, there are people who care about you and love you.

How old is your Xbox?

I don't usually keep a disc inside, no, but when there is a disc inside it usually comes out quicker. I don't remember it ever coming out immediately though. I'll be sure to try that.

It's broken. Send it in for repairs.

That tends to happen. It will get worse. It did for me. Solution: Slip a small piece of duck tape in the crack on the top of the closed disc tray and stick it to the disc tray. Push the button and pull on the duck tape at the same time. Solved

I could see this working. Anyone else tried this?

Never forget:
Porch Day

Gen Petitt Day
Night of the Living Alts

Same thing happened to me. Try dusting the inside of it, that sometimes worked, but if that doesn't help then just get a new Xbox like what I did.

Came up with it myself while I was sleeping. I doubt anyone else has tried it. It worked for me. It can work for you. Just make sure the duck tape it attached securely or you'll just end up pulling it off.

I had that problem.
As already stated always leave a disc in the tray.
Mine eventually came to a point where I had to take the case off the xbox and the top off the disc drive just to change games.

You should have done the duck tape thing I mentioned earlier. It would have saved you plenty of trouble.

Mine does this every few weeks or so. I just keep pressing the eject button until it opens.

Sorry, I don't know an actual way to fix the problem.

Do you have the original? Sometimes mine takes over 20 tries to open.
