Literally everything involving guns is put on major media to attract the anti gun crusaders. Literally this stuff happens EVERY days - It just doesn't make it's way to the top outlets and usually stays local.

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

Two major deadly shootings in the past week.

OMG THE MEDIA IS SOO EXAGGERATING GUNS OMG GUYS LIKE SRSLY.

18 at the most. Probably got the word "liberalistic" from watching Fox news with the parents.

Is it really that insane to think that a news outlet would report more on things that align with their political ideology?

Did you see how fox covered that -blam!- rights activist that shot up the chick-fil-a corporate building? They try to politicize it. Same -blam!- different political party.

Most mainstream media outlets don't have political ideologies.

Morgan Freeman on the recent shooting:

"You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here's why.

It's because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed
people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.

CNN's article says that if the body count "holds up", this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.

You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."

Key

Gun laws need to be stricter. But so does school security. Lots of things contribute to a mass murderer. Gun availability is one of them. While it's not the main issue, it is definitely one of them and to deny that is silly.

Sure, individuals do. Collective organizations don't necessarily. Here's why you get this "the media is liberal bias hurr durr" complaint. Ideological news, Fox News being the best example, never challenges the assumptions its viewers make. That news outlet, and there are others, make assumptions, often times false, which you get people believing.

So, what happens is you have a coddled audience so unable to cope with being told something they assume might be wrong that the only explanation is that there's some conspiracy against them.

MSNBC and Fox are both prime examples of this. Seeing the two of them talk about the same issue is quite entertaining at times.

MSNBC to a degree. Fox News is the grossest and most known example. MSNBC is by no means a nonpartisan news agency overflowing with integrity. I wouldn't recommend it. It is often exaggerated as an equivalent to Fox News though like somehow saying "yeah well look they do it too just like us" settles the discussion.

Fox and NBC are the only ones there with any kind of blatant bias.

I beg to differ. Most everyone has blatant bias now. The goal at this point is to look for less glaringly obvious bias.
