There's nothing wrong with caring when being told to care.

Sure, it may make a sheep out of someone, but it's better than not caring at all. It's easier to choose one person or event as a figurehead for related events, rather than care about each event individually.

So go out and do something. You see people asking for justice for their loved ones with signs and stuff all the time. Go join them. You didn't know the person they lost. Get involved. Doing this (of all places on the Flood) gets nothing done and is absolutely pointless. You are not helping or making the world a better place. Not directed towards you just a general statement.

Some people don't have the opportunities to do so. Could be because of location, money, time, whatever.

Most simply want to be a good person though. Even that doesn't bother me, until they start getting mad at me for not caring. Then I take your stance.

I don't care if people get involved or not. But this? This is just stupid. Giving a homeless person a nickel is more valuable and important then this.

Pretty much this^.

I think this is just a way to honor those that were lost and the family's that lost them is all.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

Simba, it's a pointless memorial then. It's a statement.

You don't have to post at all. In fact, I wish you would stop derailing this thread.

If it helps us, what do you care?

You're not honoring them. You're typing their name in a thread after having to look it up. You will forget about this and them in no time. That is not honoring, that's trying to show you care when you really don't.

I can't remember names, all I do is pray for the souls lost...

What can I do to prevent this? Absolutely nothing, I am in no position to do anything.

I'm not derailing anything. If I'm doing anything I'm adding conversation to a thread that would otherwise just be a list. You know, spam.

Discuss what you will do, in your own way, to remember the victims and do what you can to prevent this from happening again.

It wouldn't have just been a list.

Simba, stop being such an ass. Imagine yourself as a parent who had their kid killed, and then imagine knowing that no one is giving you sympathy because that, according to you, "isn't doing anything of value."

By us showing sympathy, it lets the parents know that there are people out there who actually do give a damn.

Maybe you're right, I dunno what the OP was thinking when he made this thread, does it really matter? Just keep in mind that people have different was of honoring people.

I've had a son taken away from me as well as had a child die during birth so yeah. This does nothing and helps no one. No one can prevent these things. That's the point.

Simba, just stop.

I really don't care if you agree with this. I don't even care if you think I'm sincere.

Post your own children's names then. I wouldn't judge you for it.

What happened yesterday effected many people. We grieve and cope in our own ways. I don't judge you for your anger at us. I just ask that you resect us enough to not hold your protest in this thread.

Go ahead and make a hate thread about me. You wouldn't be the first. But allow me to do this in peace.

I went outside today. The graphics were AMAZING. The gameplay WASN"T.

Maybe I should cry for help
Maybe I should kill myself
Blame it on my ADD baby

I'm unfortunately going to have to agree with Simba.

This isn't doing anything to stop a situation like this arising again. It also didn't personally affect MOST people. It is sad that this happened, but like most other news stories you won't remember it in the coming years.

While it is sad for the families/friends, this won't do anything to bring them back, nor is it likely to be seen by those who were affected.

This thread is here to represent those lost. Will it do a lot? No. Will it at least do something? Yeah, it will. Remember a name, and never forget. Use the name to better yourself. Represent it and try to be nice to others more. I've been on a kick recently of trying my hardest to be nice to others, so I'm going to say this nicely.

You coming in here and sharing such negativity will also do nothing but belittle others who have something nice and caring on their agenda. Remembering these people and spreading their story. Being nice to others. Spreading good will.

You're actively going against all of this, and for little reason. Not only did you single-handedly derail this thread, but you're also being unnecessarily rude to others just trying to do a good thing.

Just a heads up, I'm reporting you for derailing this and simply not playing nice.

Nothing is about you. Get over yourself. Stop trying to put things on me, I know thats how you do things even if the rset of the Flood never sees it. I'm not angry at anyone. You're derailing it by focussing on me well I'm just offering my opinions on the thread and topic at hand. So please respond to what I am saying and not make comments about me.

neither is lighting a candle in a church a quarter of a world away. Yet I did just that. Will the families ever know? More than likely not. But I did it for them nonetheless.

I choose to remember his name

The sad, lonely loser who took his life yesterday isn't worth remembering. Except as a criminal, a small minded petulant loser that deserves nothing but to be forgotten.

I choose one victim to represent the rest.

Do the world a favor. Pick one victim and remember their name. Have them stand, in your mind, for all the names you would like to remember. Then promise that you will never utter their murderer's name ever again.

Discuss what you will do, in your own way, to remember the victims and do what you can to prevent this from happening again.

OT:

Emilie Parker, only six years old. I've already tried starting over my attitude towards life, and trying to enlighten myself. So I'd be wrong in saying I'm going to change because of this. But I will continue trying to be kind to others and treating others the same way I would like to be treated. Simple gestures can go a long way. Remember this.

My condolences go out to all of those affected, and also the 22 that were knifed in China. Nobody should ever have to go through anything like this.

At the very least, try to take something from this. Talk to the loner. Give others something they might need. Try to be kinder.
