Subject: Am I the only one?

Am I the only one that has an issue with the fact that every morning, students have to get up, put a hand over their heart, and say a chant about how great their country is? Like, even if you're patriotic, isn't that going a bit far? It's double for anyone in Texas, we have to do the same to the state flag.

Apparently my school is different than most of yours, it's not a rule but it's a major peer pressure thing here, if you don't do it you get really dirty looks. Not just from students, but from teachers too.

I've got a fan!

No student has to do that. It is not mandatory.

Two makes there more than speakers.

I haven't had to do it for quite a while.
I have problems with it, but I'm not stupid enough to let it blind me like it would most people. Even when I have gripes against it I just do it anyways, it's not going to kill anyone (inb4stupidreportaboutpledgekiller).

IMO it should be optional on whether or not to do it. It may sound disrespectful to those who fought for your freedom, but it's your freedom to choose not to.

My school does it once a week, besides, you don't even have to recite it. You just have to stand up and hold your hand over your heart. It's supposed to be a symbol of respect to the country you live in. Obviously, when I do it I get strange looks but I don't mind. I don't recite it but still.

I went to elementary and pre school in Texas and I don't remember having to do that.

Talking about Sweden is an ultrabannable offense.

Too bad being completely and utterly wrong isn't a bannable offense.

Yeah, but if you don't I was under the impression that all your nationalistic classmates will shun your dirty communist ways.

I know, I've seen some people stay down, but I like standing up.

I'm from Texas and I don't remember ever having to recite the Texas pledge or the national pledge of allegiance in school. Is this a new thing?

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Really?

What city is your school in?

I haven't even heard about students doing the pledge since the mid Nineties.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

I go to a catholic school, we're expected to say the 'our father' and do the cross thing. But, being Satanic, I refuse to.

I wouldn't bow into that peer pressure if I were you OP, patriotism is stupid.

Sometimes I am tempted to quit gaming. I can no longer play without seeing ponyphags, horrendously bad teammates and mexicans.

Gaming community, I want you to know that you suck.

You are the only one.

Mostly because I don't live in murrica.

Well, just go through the motions. That's all I can say. Some things you just have to put up with.

You're either first or you're last.

You'll never amount to anything, go back under your bridge.

I never once made it through the pledge without yawning.

When you do something so methodically it loses all meaning.
