i was just thinking of being able to make custom maps. you know a weapon here, at turret there, a vehicle respawn here and so on. that would be awsome!!!

That's not really Halo. More Far Cry.

To be really honest, I'm not sure how much I would really like the idea of a map editor in Halo 3 on the 360.

I look at games like Counter-Strike and whatnot, and sometimes its just terrible trying to find a game going with one of the stock official maps that came with the game, and there's just so much gimmicky crap out there like cs_gIANtwORld_TOYBOX_ultra3b2 that I would never play in a hundred years. I'm just afraid that something similar would happen with Halo 3.. Though I guess I wouldn't have a problem with them adding a map editor to the PC version when it eventually came out down the road.

I guess I'm just of the mind that Bungie should do their best to pack the game with some great multiplayer maps that people will be playing down the road, and then include a map editor as a PC version function later on. It just doesn't make much sense to me on a console I guess, and it didn't do much for FarCry Instincts or Pariah, either.

Cap Locks is like a child who does bad to get attention.

It would be kind of cool, for machinma purposes, but what about people who create "Don't get Sniped" A giant mountain-island with a Sniper Rifle spawn and Sniper Ammo spawn, that is impossible to climb, or fly up to....Host always spawns at the top?

Not down for that, but I guess it wouldn't matter. Since it would only be Customs.

I'm undecided.

When I go online in far cry I never choose custom maps, wanna know why?

Because... The people who design maps spend many, many, many days perfecting the design, running it through multiple tests, enesuring pefection and balance.

And most custom maps I've played involve strangely placed weapons, randomly placed objects, buildings jstacked on top of each other, and the designer running around killing everyone.

Then again I've played a few that were really quite good, and I'm sure they might be quite fun.

And as long as they are kept in customs everythings A OK.

maybe a limited map editor. you can place turrets, shields, weapons, vehicles, boxes and other things that are not part of the map, on a premade map by bungie. there would have to be a limit to objects that can be placed tho, to prevent lag

Yes, I like the sound of that. Placeable turrets and certain aspects of the map, but the original map structure and geometry itself is left alone.

My big gripe would be flooding the online multiplayer component with stupid pointless maps that consist of nothing but a flat box with a thousand-mile tall hill in the middle with a sniper spawned on top. This sounds like a better idea.

He's just a genius in the computer and game world. Enough said.

I agree with the idea but only if it was done right. First off it would definetly have to be in customs only. Secondly It would have to be a full fledged editor where your creating an ACTUAL map and not just piecing things together to make a halfassed map because your bored. Thirdly, it should be a PC Editor in which you can upload maps to your 360, go to some Bungie site, upload your map to the site, and download it to your 360 within a certain time period (24 hours say). You should also be able to save maps from your cache to your hardrive. You could have like a private and public security for maps where in private they can only download it after playing it with you, so only your friends can save it, and public where anyone can save it at after playing it. Also you could have locked and unlocked, where when it's locked people need your permission to download it. They would need something along these lines, and even if you could not do the last part with saving from your cache, there would still be download sites popping up all over where you could share your maps. Actually the cache idea might have a backfire of distributing annoying Ub0rx_1337s_U_G07_PWND maps. I would love to see a custom map maker but ONLY if it was a full fledge editor and was on the PC. Console editors are always very lacking, and are subject to lack of possibility making for many weak maps.
