Talking about Sweden is an ultrabannable offense.

I can only see this working as a short-term fix rather than a long-term solution on the bigger problem.
The "bigger problem" being untreated mental conditions. There's a reason that these shooters are all depressed loners.
There are more problems in addition to gun laws and untreated mental health problems as well. The high crime rate is a problem as well as the availability of illegal weapons, drugs, etc.

I still stand by my opinion that the US needs to improve it's police force in order to have better responses to situations like this; in addition to dealing with the crime and the drugs and the smuggling and whatever else is going on over there.
The biggest help would be abolishing this ridiculous War on Drugs. Following that, we need to get better at dealing with poverty. Those two things alone have a huge number of wide-ranging affects on violent crime rates. But that only really affects violent crime in general; these spree shooters are a special case.

Treating mental conditions is definitely a large factor in these massacres. The example I'm most familiar with is the VT killer; this guy was seriously messed up, and had been that way for years. In regards to treating his condition, the only way to describe it is as criminal neglect. There was no excuse for the way that psychiatrists just ignored his problems.
Better treatment of mental health (or really just better healthcare in general), better police forces, more stringent gun restrictions but not to the point of Australia (a good compromise, yes?), a better economy, a nicer youth culture, a decreased criminal culture, more stuff like this.

It's a long list, but you can't just not do anything. If I could help I would.

Allons-y!

I don't agree with only bolt-actions. I think you should be able to have small-clip semi pistols. Then again, I don't agree with guns at all, so why am I saying this?

Australians do have semi-pistols, but they are strictly for target shooting in the hands of a civilian.

Shotguns are available for home defence IIRC, there was one case on the news where a man defended his home with a shotgun.

Why in the world do non-Americans care about our gun laws?

If you don't live here you probably don't know what your talking about.

I don't know or care about Germany's gun laws because I'm not German, So I suggest you do the same.

See the rapist.
I don't like rap.

*facepalm*

Personal Experience.

My friend's dad own more weapons than limbs in their family, almost all of them purchased illegally. Three full-auto AK-47's, an RPG (WITH two rounds), and a .44 magnum revolver to name a few. Many of the weapons were smuggled here from the Ukraine about 40+ years ago, and are still floating around today.

The fact that these guns got into our country is frightening, and its even more frightening knowing that situations such as this happen all over the country.

Great minds discuss ideas

Average minds discuss events

Small minds discuss people

There was a rumor a few years back that President Obama was going to enforce stricter gun control laws. People went crazy, and the sales of guns and ammunition skyrocketed for a few months. Guns have become ingrained in our culture, and messing with it isn't easy. Stricter gun controls would be nice, but it won't be overnight.

Maybe because your government sucks so bad it can't prevent things like these from happening.

Do these people buy these weapons with the intent to use or for display.
Both. If you can afford the ammunition, firing a machine gun at a shooting range is a lot of fun. There used to be a yearly event in Texas (I think it ended a few years ago) where machine gun owners got together and fired at old junk cars until there was nothing left.
Primitives.

This isn't about free speech, Its about the fact the most foreigners are so deluded about American gun laws that they spread wrong information or base their opinions off of something they saw in the news or in a movie, Instead of actually looking up the varying laws both federal and state.

Also look up crime statistics, Almost no crime is committed by fully auto or semi auto rifles or shotguns.

and the majority of gun crime is gang related, in which they procure there guns illegally

I could go on but I think you get the point.

And the guns were legally acquired. Still doesn't happen as much as in the US and there are other countries in Europe that have stricter gun laws and you don't have these massacres happening

Oh look, a political "leader" making a knee-jerk reaction based on emotions, not logic.
"These are assault weapons. You don't hunt deer with these things," he told CNN.The gun he used was functionally no different than a hunting rifle. "Assault weapons" isn't even a real category of firearms; it's a term used by anti-gun advocates to describe guns that look scary.

And once again, people are ignoring the fact that he also used two handguns that he illegally possessed.

#rubberdingirapids

It's just ridiculous to think that there are people in the country who don't want any gun restrictions because it goes against a 200+ year old document written in mind for people in that time.

Then again, most of these people follow the bible...

Wow, you and I agree on something.

Look, I agree that we need better border security, a more capable police force, and maybe 1 or 2 armed security guards for schools.

But the type of gun control most people talk about is insane/pointless

No, The man stole them from his father.

Also, I can bet that I can find multiple mass shootings in pretty much every country on earth.

But what would you do to stop this?
