Hey, uh, if you like vs threads, then check out this little group right here, if you have the time. It's pretty fun, just hop right in.

As soon as we get a cure for a certain illness it'll have evolved and we'll need to start all over again.

The same way you can smash a wall even though it's not alive.

"Right now it is raining methane on Titan. The planet Uranus is, hilariously, orbiting the sun sideways while Venus spins backwards. We sit here on a planet marked with collisions, rocked by earthquakes, shaken by storms. A planet doomed to be fried in radiation as its magnetic fields collapse, until the sun grows and leaves nothing of the earth but dust. Here we sit, glasses on our noses, inhalers in our pockets, braces on our teeth, and we say "Behold the perfect ORDER of it all!""

Just do scare so some more: What do you think would happen if the cold ever evolved enough to the point it became fatal?

We'd be -blam!-.

They're not alive by our definition. That last bit is key.

The Internet is an empowerment tool that's agnostic; it doesn't care about race, gender, or age.

Penicillin has been working for a while though. Then again viruses evolve at different rates than bacteria. Damn. Viruses are so useless.

They force evolution on us. The more resistant people survive whatever disease they have and pass on that resistance, and the ones who are not resistant, die. That rids the gene pool of weakness and soon everybody is resistant (though not immune) to one more virus.

Inside another dead body. It's the last place they'll look
A corpse within a corpse.
CORPSEPTION.
Win.

Well, yes.
The fact we've eliminated smallpox and polio says yes already.

Those aren't really cures; it's more of a combination of vaccines and containment.

  • 12.16.2012 3:40 PM PDT

That's being pretty vague considering some viruses already have cures.

  • 12.16.2012 3:41 PM PDT

Mreh.

We send in microscopic marines to deal with the issue.

Covan was here, December 20th.

Come back later, after he's out of Parris Island.

Technically, a virus is really close to actually being living thing.

  • 12.16.2012 3:44 PM PDT

There's a debate over whether or not viruses are really alive, but that's aside the issue.

Since viruses modify the DNA, maybe it could be countered with gene therapy.
