I don't get how people hear bass the most. It's supposed to be in the background.

Only if you listen to boring root pluggers.

The bass is more important the guitar in most Chili Pepper songs

+7
Would've been more impressed if you linked Funky Monks though.

Funk is not rock though. Chili peppers (at this stage) are a combination.

Lol, I hate it when I get page cut off too. Also, +7 yourself, early Peppers were a sight to behold.

It's supposed to be the foundation for all of the other music

It's not supposed to stick out though. Drums are a much louder and direct way to get the rhythm. The bass adds color to it. There's a lot of bands who get away without having a bass player though.

Usually vocals but I love to listening to the drumming in most metal songs.

  • 12.16.2012 12:19 PM PDT

Guitar, then vocals, then drums, then bass.

  • 12.16.2012 12:35 PM PDT

There's a “U” and “I” in union but just an “I” in my beliefs

Rock? Vocals.
Metal? Guitar.

  • 12.16.2012 12:37 PM PDT

Vocals aren't an instrument.

Guitar.

Depends on the type of Rock

Dadrock I hear the guitar and vocals

Post Rock I hear string instruments and ambiance

Post Punk I hear the drums probably most and the vocals. Sometimes the bass as well

  • 12.16.2012 12:40 PM PDT

I always notice the drums more than anything.

  • 12.16.2012 12:46 PM PDT

vocals-guitar-drums.

I have no idea how anyone can hear the bass, unless you turn the bass up all the way.

Guitar, that's why I love rock songs that have unique instruments.

Sometimes I am tempted to quit gaming. I can no longer play without seeing ponyphags, horrendously bad teammates and mexicans.

Gaming community, I want you to know that you suck.

Vocals > Guitar > Drums > other stuff

From the ashes

Guitar, mostly because it's the instrument I play, so it's what I hear and analyze the most. Drums are basically in the same spot though, since I adore a good drum line, and when I zone out, I find myself tapping my foot to the drums.

  • 12.16.2012 6:03 PM PDT

I know you are but what am I?

Bass. It's always the bass.

Any answer besides drums is wrong.

Unless you are mentally incapable of grasping rhythm.

lol

How about you stop being so arrogant? That would help out a lot.

I've played guitar for 7 years so it would make sense that I pay attention to the guitar.

Gather around the campfire, once it goes out, it's out for good.

In a rock song? The vocals, obviously.

In what I actually listen to? The drums.

Bass? Really people? I can almost never hear bass in most songs.

Why can't we all be like me and play all instruments and view them equally?

Some people have pretty good ears, some have trained themselves to pick out each part of a song and be able to listen to just that. Most people just listen to the song, ergo, the easiest to hear in it; so it's normal.

The Secret Society 95% of activity is me, I could use some help.

Usually a tie between drums and guitar. I hear bass some too, when it's obvious. Usually I don't hear vocals unless they are really great and musical, usually higher melodic or the opposite low growl.

In all honesty a bass player can do whatever the hell he wants to, it's art, there are no rules

Life?
I have the internet and Doctor Who; i don't need a life.

if there's vocals, i tend to hear them the most.
if there are no vocals then the guitar or bass.
