The fact a tiny book is split into 3 movies shows that.

YES, I know all movies are made for money, but for the original trilogy you could tell Jackson really wanted to make these movies, and he put a lot of passion into them.

The Hobbit though? A snooze fest. If he really wanted to make it, it should have been two films at the most.

"And i will show you where the iron crosses grow..."

Cry more, a movie doesn't need to be non stop action especially one that is more about the journey than anything else.

I hate how movies have to be non stop violence and explosions to be successful.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.
~M.D~

I feel completely different. I think it was a smart choice, more detail makes for a better movie. This is a book I don't want the details taken out of.

The Hobbit film isn't just based on the The Hobbit book. It also contains content from The Silmarillion and other Tolkien works.

You're just ill-informed.

Nice, flame me for having a different opinion and then make awful assumptions.

The original trilogy wasn't filled with just non-stop action, and in fact the movies were longer than this Hobbit movie, but they were much more interesting, and better paced.

I thought so too, before I saw it.

They're including lots of the lore that wasn't actually present in the book; Radagast, the necromancer, the pale orc, etc.

Lol, insulting me when you're the one who's ill-informed. There isn't any content from The Silmarillion, only stuff from the appendices, (which is only like 30 pages)

The lord of the rings could have been 6 movies, if Peter had the money and techonlogy he has now. This thread is stupid -_-

Jackson clearly didn't make that decision, it was probably Touchstone.

Actually Jackson originally wanted to do The Hobbit as the first movie.

The new film is right around the same length as fellowship.

Lol wat? Jackson stated he was adding material from the appendices into the film, but not The Silmarillion. I love how you're being so condescending to me just because I didn't enjoy a movie.

Yes, and during Fellowship I was not bored once, despite it being a similar length.

It was a tight, concise, and excellently paced story.
The Hobbit Part one is a bloated, uninteresting, and most of all boring film

Jackson managed to make all the other books into one film, and they were longer than the Hobbit.

Besides, I said I would have preferred two films. Three is way too much.

But it's a big part of the story. Necromancers are not mentioned at all in The Hobbit (IIRC), and they're clearly going to be part of the story in the latter half.
