So what's the actual point of trying to say the exact same thing but just in other words? Quoting may not add anything new, but at least it shows what you think and overall it will affect the discussion, when people see lots of users agreeing with something.
Even if it's spam?
No, that's another thing obviously. I thought you meant quoting legitimate posts as well.

How is saying "inb4lock" or "What are we discussing?" trying to help?
As far as I am aware, that's not forum copping; That's spam.
But, yes; I belive excesive forum copping should be a bannable offense. If it is done in regulation, I don't think it hurts anyone.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Yes it should be. Its annoying.

Sorry I'm not really good with forum terminology yet. Basically, I don't like people who constantly spam "So what are we discussing?"

inb4lock: At times, it can be used to metaphorically battle a troll.
It's not our place to do "battle" with Trolls, all saying "inb4lock" does is bump the thread up to the top of the page and increases the likelyhood that it will get more replies before it gets locked (if the thread is indeed lock worthy).

Mythical Wolf needs to be banned. He constantly spams "SO WHAT ARE WE DISCUSSING"

There are many other members that post that but he's the most prominent one.

Major props to my hommie Sheeef. He made Recon possible for me. Long time recovering emails and passwords. And it was his. lol.

No OP, you're doing it wrong.

It is rare to see a forum cop in the truest sense. If you post something like "this thread belongs in X forum" (when that forum is located on bungie.net) or "heads up self-reffing links are grounds for a permaloling" you're probably doing the person a legitimate favor. Now if you want to publish that you've reported someone, that a topic should be locked, that it doesn't have discussion value, calling something spam/trolling, etc or otherwise bumping bad threads while complaining about it being a bad thread without naming something specific, that should be in the forum cop/bannable territory.

Agreed 100%.

As I said, I don't mind when people do "helpful" things, like saying "heads up post this in the flood"

I hate stuff like "what are we discussing?"

How is saying "inb4lock"

Memes are spam which is bannable.

How can you justify your constant spamming of "So what are we discussing?", Mythical Wolf?

It's spam. Plain and simple. And if you're posting it on threads with no discussion value, you're promoting it and therefore bumping spam threads, which is bannable.

This

Oh wait, that's considered spam too.
I agree good sir.

'Forum copping' is as annoying as any spam element;

I am literally laughing right now.

I respectfully PM'd Mythical Wolf on why he constantly posted "What are we discussing here?", and gave him an explanation on how it bumps spammy threads to the top.

What does he do? Not respond to me, and then block me from sending PM's to him. LOL

What I'm talking about is more about people who go on threads just to post annoying, off-topic things, such as:

"inb4 lock and ban"
"So what are we discussing?"
...that's not really forum copping, imo. I also don't think it should be bannable, though a general warning should be given if it appears the individual does this crap a lot. If he fails to heed the warning, then his ass gets banned.

Constructive copping isn't as much of an annoyance compared to unconstructive/ego building forum copping.

  • 12.16.2012 4:11 PM PDT

It's not bannable. There's a difference between giving advice and "Forumcopping/spamming" which are the same thing.

Telling someone to edit a name/pic out of their post or what forum it should belong in isn't forumcopping.
