I'm really getting to the point where I just can't stand all of these stupid people saying that every part of our freaking lives should be politically correct. It's getting really annoying and it just needs to stop.
For example, people always say that we should refer to black people as African Americans. There are two reasons why this is stupid. First, we have called black people black for the longest of times and there is nothing inherently offensive about saying someone is black. I'm white, so should you call me an Irish American (I actually don't know what descent I am but just an example)? No, you're going to call me white because my skin is white. Why is it different with black people? And second, they are NOT, I repeat... NOT African. They are wholly and entirely American, so saying that they are African American more than anything should warrant a little bit of offense, because you're implying they're not entirely American. I'm going to call black people black, and white people white.
Second thing that's ticked me off is this whole war on Christmas. The only people who are trying to get Christmas off of public property are the ones who seem to have a hard time accepting our nation's traditions (most namely immigrants to the US). Immigrants who come over from Saudi Arabia, India, or whatever obviously celebrate different holidays. I get that. But, why is it suddenly okay for them to come over to our country and hijack our traditions? What if a million or so Americans immigrated over to Israel? Could we just immediately say that the fact that the country celebrates Hanukkah is offensive to us, and we want it to be removed? No, we can't. Why? Because it's their tradition.
The same thing goes for America. Why do people honestly expect America to drop all of its traditions purely for the sake that they seem to be offended by them? Let me tell you this, if you are honestly and genuinely offended by the traditions of another country, you can get out right now. That's the way it is all over the world. Every country has their tradition, and I can assure you that if you go out and try to take away the traditions of multiple countries simply for the fact that it offends you and your thick skull, you are going to piss off a LOT of people.
And you're pissing me off.
Thank you and have a wonderful Christmas.
