NEWS FLASH
The world is way more connected, so news travels faster and to more people. Shooting have happened for as long as guns have existed. We just hear about them a lot more now.
Meanwhile estimates of deaths in the Syrian civil war vary between 40,000 and 56,050 and no one cares.I don't live in Syria and therefore that war poses no immediate threat to me or my family and friends. That's how the world works.
I don't live in Connecticut, I actually live quite far from there, But all I hear about is that shooting and why I "should" care. I mean I am pissed that children died, but children dying to adults is nothing new.
And what happens in the world does affect us, especially major wars. The media just shields you from it very well.
EDIT: Also don't say children dying is a tragedy people should remember. Just happened in the last couple hours. But the U.S. media may briefly mention it...
