Subject: How Teachers Should Have Guns In School (Continuation of poll thread)

Okay, due to the huge amount of confusion in the last thread I will attempt to come up with a plan that remedies many of the problems present in the last one.

Problems:

Kids stealing gun

Teachers killing kids

Schools not having money

Teachers not having money

Teachers not knowing how to use guns

Okay, now there are of course other problems, but these are the biggest.

Solutions:

Guns kept in safe. (If we want to take in every incredibly unlikely scenario, make the safe remotely unlocking from a master switch thats flipped in times of emergency, bam now no teachers killing kids)

Now kids stealing guns is not a problem, and neither is teachers killing kids.

Schools and teachers lacking money. This is a problem, however it would be easy to subsidize these things, split costs, have fund raisers (lol), what have you. Hell gun companies would probably jump at a chance for good press; "Here at Remington, we believe in protecting your kids too!" Bam, cheap advertising, and free guns.

Now we only have teachers not knowing how to use guns. Solution, have a program for it! A month long class, could be a whole summer, doesn't matter. If the teachers are willing to take he time I see no reason why not, costs goes back to the previous solution.

Disclaimer: This is entirely hypothetical, and not really a solution to the shooting epidemic, but hey I'm bored.

Okay, well the vast majority of flaws have been addressed, let the debate/flaming commence anew!

Why.

I honestly don't understand why it isn't like this already. Most schools have little to no security, that which a rampant person with a gun can't blow through.

Key

Remaining Problems:

Safes are expensive as -blam!-.

Guns are expensive as -blam!-.

Some teachers don't -blam!- like guns.

Substitute teachers.

Teachers that movie from classroom to classroom.

Cost has been addressed.

No one is being forced to do this.

Teachers moving is not a big deal, schedules can be changed.

Substitutes are a non issue, they simply will not be allowed access unless they have been certified.

Money aside.

So...where's this master switch? Beside the dead principal?

  • 12.16.2012 10:16 PM PDT

the predominate amount of teachers are liberal -blam!-s, they'd piss themselves and cry at the thought of hold any form of weapon, especially a firearm.

District head quarters?

Not in the principals office?

There could be more than one, but his is irrelevant, this is a very unlikely scenario.

Cost: lol what? Gun companies giving out reduced-price guns to EVERY CLASSROOM IN EVERY SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY? Are you mad?

There shouldn't be a reason the principle or someone else couldn't get to this switch first. Still...the whole idea is crazy.

Teachers should be allowed to bring guns with them if they own them and are proficient with them. They should be kept on their person or in a secured location. Problems solved.

It really doesn't take a month to train someone on any one particular platform.

Even extensive advanced courses are only 3 days.

A good instructor can have a new shooter hitting targets like they had done it their whole life at the end of a days session.

Sorry for skimming, just read the master switch idea: Kid hits switch, friend in other class gets gun. Shoots everyone in class. 30 dead. yay guns.

  • 12.16.2012 10:21 PM PDT

because a gunmen is going to let the teacher unlock the gun case before he starts shooting up the place???

There isn't a quick solution to a problem like this....

also, putting guns in the hands of stressed out school teachers with their own personal problems and possible mental issues is the dumbest solution possible.

  • 12.16.2012 10:21 PM PDT

Teachers would nto be properly trained. Anyone who thinks a normal teacher could handle a gun, even with training, has never fired one before. Guns arent easy to use in normal conditions, imagine being underfire.

Private security would be better, and have much less liability attached to it.

All of that aside, school is not a place for fear. There has to be a point where this is accepted as a problem of having freedom. Stuff happens. Its sad that it does but you cant live in fear your entire life.

These teachers don't have one specific classroom. They move from classroom to classroom. Do they get the combination to every safe in every classroom they visit? Same with substitutes. They don't always substitute for the same teacher all day. Do they get every combination of every room they're in? How do you keep things like the combinations a secret? What if some teacher writes it down so they won't forget and some kid steals that piece of paper?

Just read the thing about cost: lol what? Gun companies giving out reduced-price guns to EVERY CLASSROOM IN EVERY SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY? Are you mad?

Sigh, it wouldn't be hard to have teachers with safes stay in the same classroom.

Subsitutes, okay just they do not get access to the safes, for them its as if they aren't there.

Master switch solves combo problem.

Not every classroom, only those who apply, and that was only a possibility, a likely one (even just a 10% discount) because of the flack they get for massacres.

How about revoking gun free zones, and allowing teachers who own a firearm to bring it to school?

People who shoot often tend to be the most well mannered, calm people you can meet. I always feel so welcome when I got to the range.

Before the creation of gun free school zones, teachers would often come to school armed. There have even been a few mass shootings that were stopped by armed educators.

Shooting targets in a relaxed enviorment is nothing compared to when you are shot at. Police go through training exercises for MUCH longer and still have trouble hitting people when they are being shot at.

I'm laughing at the fact that someone WOULD eventually get into the safe and kill a -blam!- ton of people. The nation well then turn on itself.

Sometimes I am tempted to quit gaming. I can no longer play without seeing ponyphags, horrendously bad teammates and mexicans.

Gaming community, I want you to know that you suck.
