Everything is proceeding as I have forseen.

Has anyone here read the books or seen the TV show? I myself have not seen the show, I'am however about 100 pages into the first book and I'm finding it really enjoyable. Has anyone here read it and have any opinions on it?

NO SPOILERS PLEASE

Love both the books and show. The first season is almost a word-for-word adaption of the first book, season 2 diverges a little though. Storm of Swords is the best book, season 3 should be amazing.

I would have to agree. I did get a little bored with the 4th book. The 5th was a little better. Season 3 of the show have a lot of viewers that did not read the book freaking out.

As far as the books go, I would rate them like this:

Book 1 = Book 3 > Book 2 > Book 5 > Book 4.

And I too, have not yet watched the show, so that I cannot judge.

Also, Tyrion = Best character. All other opinions are wrong.

I like tacos

Oh god, when season three comes out, everybody who hasn't read the book is going to go nuts over the RW. And I don't know if it'll make it into S3, since I heard they were splitting up SoS into two seasons, but I can't wait to see the Red Viper Vs. the Mountain, that was one of the most heart-pounding moments of the whole book for me.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

-blam!- goes down, man. -blam!- goes down.

I've read all of the books about three times and am currently rewatching season 2. I have to say that HBO's adaptation is superior to the original book format.

Also, I find this GoT news to be quite amusing.

The fact that they split book 3 into two seasons irritates me to no end I just hope they condense books 4 and 5 to make up for that (also because those books draaaaag on with very little happening). I am interested to see which of the two big (the biggest in the books IMO) holy crap! moments they'll end season 3 of the show with.

So you'd rather the show be less faithful to the books?

If it makes the show not suck, yeah.

Not what I said, eliminate the filler from books 4 and 5 and you'll have a better show, 700 pages of writing but only 100 of actual plot moving forward. Martin succumbed to the same problem authors like Robert Jordan and Terry Goodkind had where they let the story get out of hand (tell me Crossroads of Twilight was a good book :/)
