Look at this website

2 people die every second in the world. That's 151,600 people dying each day!

So why is 26 deaths a big deal? It's absolutely nothing compared to the deaths per day. Approximately 13 seconds of time passed, and the same amount of people are gone.

26 is also approximately only .000000003 % of the world population

I'm legitimetly curious I live in Australia and I'm not used to hearing about these events.

"It is the cruelest fate, to have written words that meant well and see them made wicked and unwise. What was meant to encourage life, used instead to justify taking it."

Because most of them were children.

Inappropriate. Went a little to far with the butt hole tearing.

Because they are children. Because it happened in a public place. Because it was a brutal act of violence. Because it got a lot of media coverage. Because the rest of the world means nothing when something happens close to home.

Please do not send me group invites.

Because 26 innocent people died at the hands of a crazy person.

This does not happen every day. The 151,600 figure also includes old people, sick people, gang violence, war, etc.

In the way of part of the new Germany was Poland so Hitler and Stalin took it over so Germany could grow.

Um 20 some 1st graders aren't killed every day.

Let alone in a school setting.

Let alone by some crazed adult son who kills his mother prior to breaking into said school.

It's not the number, it's the story. I -blam!- hate when people try to downplay stuff like this because other people die.

You're reducing human lives to hard numbers, giving them no face or real value.

And you see nothing wrong with that?

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

1) The children were Americans. If a similar event happened in Australia, Americans wouldn't wonder why Aussies were upset.

2) The act was senseless. There was no motivation behind it that was understandable. No political, or racial motivation. Had he done it as an act of terrorism, or as a hate crime, we would still be upset, but we would know what happened. We haven't an idea.

3) We care about the other deaths too, but only in as far as they relate to us. Most Americans have never been to Africa, or even know an African (not black, African) so how do we relate what happens there to what happens here? We feel badly for children dying everywhere. We just can't fit them into our frame of reference.

4) I think you are trolling.
