I'll bring the tritium laser cutters if you bring the beer!

Funny story.

Is it worth it to get a solid state hard drive even though there is less memory?

I think the best approach now is to get a small SSD as a boot drive for the OS, and a big regular drive.

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."
-Nietzsche

Depends what you want to use it for. SSDs have a significantly shorter lifespan than conventional magnetic storage if you are writing to them frequently.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

DRAM = more space, costs less but not as fast.
SRAM = costs more, much faster but has less space.

How small? Would getting a 120 GB SSHD be good if I have a 1 TB Data HD?

Just today I replaced my optical drive with an SSD. You wouldn't believe how quick things are.

The technology is pretty new, and still has a little bit of time to mature and go down in price. If your budget is tight, I wouldn't go for it for now. Stick to a standard hard-drive, since a solid state doesn't make too much of a difference in loading times.

That's basically my desktop setup. Movies, music, games, etc are on the HDD, and my OS, Word and launch programs are on the SSD.

You could probably get away with just a 60GB SSD if you wanted to save a few bucks. Or keep an eye out for promotions on larger drives. I've only used about 40GB on the SSD.
