But that's wrong.

It's actually good.
Not really

GrownPrism is NOT my gt. Happened when signing into my xbox live account. My real gt is here:

The soundtrack only had 2-3 songs I enjoyed. For all I know I could have enjoyed more if the music wasn't so low.

You're just a fanboy son.
Oh go on, I'm so anxiously awaiting your explanation of how I am a fanboy. Go riiiight ahead.

I don't see you doing anything to help our country.
Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

The music felt out of place
Namely the sections where he copied music from other games and movies. Notice how those don't appear on the soundtrack..

  • 12.18.2012 8:05 PM PDT

Get the hell off my planet!

I can't remember all too much from the soundtrack, but it seemed to be more for ambiance than anything. Not a bad thing, but for Halo it's not a good thing.

Vae Victis!

I thought it was really good imo, 117 was amazing.

I admit though, Marty was still better (ODST is currently my favorite), but Davidge isn't bad at all.

Sparkle Sparkle Sparkle!

I miss Marty's stuff. It gave Halo a mysterious feel to it. Now it's just military stuff with a dash of mystery.

The only time I actually noticed the soundtrack in campaign was the last level. I remember nothing from other times.

Usually a good sign of a mediocre soundtrack, which Halo 4s soundtrack is.

Here is my honest opnion. It's good music. It's the type of stuff you could watch buildings and cars go kaboom to.

However, it isn't great to us because it is no longer the music we are familiar with.

Whether or not you like the new music more, the old music had a common way of going back to the monk-chanting sounds of the first game's title screen theme. Even Halo Wars had bits and pieces of the theme in it. A good example is "Spirit of Fire," which makes a slight, yet effective, use of pieces of the theme.

The theme of what we called "Halo" is gone from Halo 4. The closest bits are the parts of the title screen music in the new game that feature the "Cortana" song.

By the way. Did anyone else find it extremely awkard when, in mid-battle, the music would cut off? It made little sense.

(P.S. I am a fan of Halo 4's title theme, but overall, the game's music was...good...not great)

Neil's music is average, generic action music and thoroughly boring. It's nothing worth remembering or looking for outside of the game itself.

  • 12.18.2012 8:18 PM PDT

I am a monument to all your sins

Arrival, Haven, 117, Green and Blue, and To Galaxy are all very good imo, and those are just the ones that I can pull up from the top of my head. Overall, I like Marty's music better, but since they don't have him, Niel is just about the next best thing Imho.

Niel is just about the next best thing Imho.

Niel, rolling around in his chair, slipping and sliding on his own vomit while occasionally thrusting his fingers into his keyboard for a 2-3 second interval is NOT the next best thing Imho. If anything, Jeremy Soule would be next best thing.

Rain, and Jazz.
Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

Was absolute crap for a Halo game.
Was okay for a sci-fi FPS.

I think I might do that next time I play, OP.

wow. I can't speak for Jeremy Soule, or really, any other video game composer, but I feel that Neil's music did a good job fitting the tone of Halo 4. And there's no need to be vulgar.

Vulgar? Sorry, the mere thought of the word "decent" and "Niel" bring back repressed memories of the most frightening days of my childhood where I was required to recite non-chorus lyrics from popular 80 songs. Terrible times those were.

The soundtrack is as good as every soundtrack from past Halo games aside from ODST.
Nope.

I thought Halo 2 had great tracks but also some god awful tracks that didn't fit into Halo at all.

ODST's was still my favorite.

  • 12.18.2012 9:22 PM PDT

I will own everyone in Halo: Reach

Posted by: Koolen
Halo 3 > Halo 2 > Halo Reach > Halo CE > Halo ODST > Halo Wars > Halo 4 that's my opinion, with soundtracks that is.

Lol, you must be retarded to rank ODST's in that position.

This makes me rage. Davidge did not compose 117. It is the only good track and the only one he had nothing to do with. I don't hate him because he isn't Marty, I hate him because he is just good, not great.

Signatures are for little kids.

Nowhere near as cool as Mega Man soundtracks, but that's to be expected.
