Subject: Guns can allow evil men to kill easier

Lets Boogie

That is what i here by some who want a gun ban or more gun restrictions.

But couldn't it also be said that guns allow good men to defend themselves or others, easier? And that be restricting guns heavily, you are only hurting their chance of defending themselves, especially from gun wielding criminals?

Not really. If I go out and -blam!- someone, I'm evil. If I go out and stop a -blam!-, that was good.

Guns also allow people to protect themselves. Drugs are illegal. Does that mean nobody smokes marijuana in the US? Not at all. 40% of people do.

Same thing with guns. People are going to get them either way.

  • 12.17.2012 2:44 PM PDT

Yes there are evil and crazy people out there who could use guns. But there are also way more completely normal and responsible people who also enjoy operating firearms and being able to protect themselves. You can try to target the evil men, but more often than not, you're only going to be punishing the good people while the evil people illegally acquire firearms.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

Would you rather they kill people slowly will knives? Granted it's easier, but it's less painful. How would you rather die? Bullet to the head or your neck slit?

In an incredibly simplistic state yes, but cases are rarely as easy as "That man is a murderer, I'll shoot him first."

Are psychopaths evil or sick? Are good men simply acting out of selfish desire or are they truly altruistic? Did Hitler believe himself to be evil and continue anyway? In ending WWII with nuclear weaponry did America save lives or end thousands?

I'm sticking to my original statement. The lines between good and evil are murky and no one man can decide which is which. Good and evil are, by definition, an unspoken agreement of moral code by all of humanity.

No, banning guns will NOT stop the insane from killing people, one thing I'm tired of is that the fact that the U.S doesn't seem to give damn about MENTAL HEALTH! Before there were facilities EVERY WHERE for the purpose of actually helping people with their problems, but now it's VERY hard to get mental help, and it's also expensive as Hell! A friend of mine wants help, but she can't get any because it's too expensive and none of the places she's been to will accept her insurance.

Because nobody was ever murdered without a gun after their invention!

If someone is set to kill, they will kill, whether with a gun or a pointy stick.

The fact that the US has around four times the murder rate as other 1st world countries (that all have strict gun control) suggests that the guns kind of help with all the killing that Americans get up to.

I see the dilemma you have before yourself. But let me emphasize one point:

and no one man can decide which is which.Yes. Man cannot discern right from wrong. Let me just say, I believe in God, and if you accept the self evident truth that man lacks perfect judgment, it becomes apparent that mankind needs to turn to a pure third party. Luckily, such a thing exists, and his book outlines VERY clearly right from wrong. So for me, there is no dilemma. There is only right and wrong. And it's not something I figured out myself, it's something I learned.

True, but only because most people don't carry.

It boils down to this:

Do you want a society where everyone is defenseless and complacent, or do you want a society where everyone is independent and naturally keeps each other in check?

No, banning guns will NOT stop the insane from killing people.

In china, 20 kids were stabbed

In America, 20 kids were shot

In China, those 20 kids lived

In America, those 20 kids died

Banning guns wont stop crazy people from being crazy and doing crazy stuff, but it will save lives.

I had a very similar thing, only I threw a 14 story building out of a pool and hit a kid on a paper aeroplane.

The Flood is just this awesome :D

Guns shouldn't be a debate after every shooting by an insane person. Mental hospitals and being able to identify the mentally unstable should be debated. All this talk of gun control is driving away attention from what's really a problem.

Why can't you have a society that doesn't need guns to feel safe? Whether it be from other citizens or from tyranny.

The other 1st world countries, that have strict gun control, seem to manage it.

Happens so rarely that it's not worth the risk.

I'd rather not die at all, which is why I'd rather not let mentally ill people have easy access to an easy way to kill people.

Guns aren't addictive like Marijuana.
