In this page we are told that the British army in the War of Independence was made up of 60,000 people at its peak, half of whom were actually German auxiliaries. So that's 30,000 British soldiers.
This lists the overall size of the British army towards the bottom of the page:
At the outbreak of the Revolutionary War the British Regular Army comprised 2 Troops of Horse Guards, 5 Regiments of Horse, 3 Regiments of Dragoon Guards, 14 Regiments of Dragoons, 3 Regiments of Light Dragoons, 3 Regiments of Foot Guards and 70 Regiments of Foot.
so that's near enough 100,000 men, of which less than a third were sent to the US, and we haven't even started to count the other auxiliaries we could have raised from around our Empire (that covered most of the known world).
The king sent all AVAILABLE resources to stop the rebellion. The empire failed miserably, and the king pulled out because it was a lost cause. Willpower > technology, manpower.
Also, you're using Wikipedia as a source.
