the will to win is the will to destroy

that was the main thing i liked about gears of war it was funny watching people on opposite teams huddled in the same spot because of the razor hail only to realise they are enemies and begin cautiously blowing the living hell out of eachother

"I actually don't hold a grudge against someone talking trash about me if they're shot afterwards, I try to rise above that "

Gordon Freeman, Freeman's Mind

Battlefield has the crappy scripted tower on Caspian, and any game that has red barrels in it (also including Battlefield)

Tej~

Dynamic weather would be a nice implementation in a game like planetside, vehicles would be affected by snow and rain, air vehicles would handle badly in most weather types, snipers would have their vision impaired and infantry would have to worry about their guns getting clogged up or frozen.

This.

The hazard maps in ME3 are fun. Especially the one with the acid rain which forces you to fight from inside buildings.

By that I mean random events occur at different points on the map.

Randomness is never good in a competitive game. Perhaps if it was on a timer or something it might work.
Agreed. Imagine how much complaining would occur due to environmental deaths.
I would not happen every single game. It should be a rare ocurance for an earthquake of that magnitude to happen. More common things like rain, wind, and a little fog would be seen a little more.

Which reminds me, does the earthquake thing work in BF3?

Yeah. It is just little tremors. I never saw a full on quake.

Soul of the mind, key to life's ether
Soul of the lost, withdrawn from its vessel
May strength be granted so the world might be mended...
So the world might be mended...

There's a few game where the enviroment plays a part, some have been listed here.

I don't think random events would be good though, they should occur at a certain point. If a map had multiple events that could happen, and they happened at different times and it was random on which one was chosen each match I think it'd work out well. I'm up for weather and day night cycles, of course those would be hard to implement especially it's your average shooter where matches only take 10 minutes, in an MMOFPS, like Planetside 2 I could see weather working out really well, during the winter seasons it snows and as the season goes on the snow starts building up to a limit.

Funny you say that DICE said that there was an idea of putting earthquakes in multi-player

The end.

LOL! Y'all competitive players gotta be pampered and have victory handed on a platter or you'll quit. I always find your kind amusing.

Let's all just be happy! Doesn't that sound like fun?

Yay!

I don't like the idea of something as drastic as yours OP, but ones that have rickety bridges that can be destroyed, or would fall apart randomly/from use, or nearby cliffs and rocks fall off occasionally. Of course, so people don't complain into eternity, it'd have to be on a separate playlist.

Edit: You mentioned weather = day/night cycles. I think some could work in regular playlists (light rain and cloudy at least, and day/night cycles), but others (heavy fog, thunder/lightning/heavy rain, hail, snow) would have to be saved for 'recreation' playlists.
