So flood, I went and saw the Hobbit the other night. Here are my thoughts on it:

It was well done. The humor was great, the story was good. However, it just wasn't scary enough. I appreciate that they're making it into three movies though. I like Thorin, he's a cool character. But the scene with the trolls just wasn't scary enough. The part with the eagles was cool too. It was awesome when they were running from the goblins and the wolves, but I thought that scene just wasn't scary enough. The CGI was great too, I mean, I barely noticed it was there. They could have done better with the Goblins though. Unlike LOTR though, it just wasn't scary enough.

So overall, here are my main points:

+Cool story
+Fun characters
+Great CGI
-Not Scary

What did you think of The Hobbit?

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

I heard the CGI was poorly done and overused.

I dont think the Hobbit was meant to be scary whe Tolkien wrote it. He made it as a bedtime story for his children, so why would he want to scare them when he was trying to get them to go to sleep?

There was only one part of the whole movie that I noticed it was poorly done.

I like shorts. They're comfy and easy to wear.

I don't think the pale orc chap should have been in CGI. I'm sure they could have found a large amputee to play the part instead.

I was referring to the part in the caves with the goblins, when they fall down on the wood -blam!-...that was just terrible, IMO.

The scene with the trolls weren't supposed to be scary. In the books, Bilbo got captured, then slowly one by one, the dwarves came to check out what happened. They all eventually get captured. Eventually, Gandalf uses a magically enhanced voice to get the trolls to argue until dawn, in which they turn to stone.

I had heard it was just distracting, that the movie was well-done, but the CGI (excluding Gollum) was either poorly done or just not necessary. I still plan on seeing the film, maybe this weekend.
