Wait the extra few months to turn 18? There's no reason you need it right now, unless you're just trying to look cool at school for having a tattoo.

Listen to your parents, tattoos are REALLY ugly, more so as you grow older.

OP, if you're waiting another year anyway, here's an idea. Sketch out the tattoo you want right now. Keep that drawing somewhere handy. Pull it out once a month and see if you still think it's something you want to have on your body.

If at the end of the next year (or however long it is til you can get one) you still think it's a great idea, then go for it. If anyone questions whether it was an impulsive thing that you'll regret later, you can tell them you took a year to affirm your decision.

If at some point during that time, you pull out that drawing and start to wonder what you were thinking or forget why you wanted it, go thank your parents for not letting you make a decision you would have regretted.

I'd take a guess that that's really your parents' main concern. They worry that you're just making a rash decision and will regret it later. Do this, and either way, you'll confirm it to yourself that either you were right or they were.

I like some tattoos, but this is the main reason I don't have any yet. Every time I think one would be cool, I'll change my mind within a month. That tells me I'm not a person who should be getting tattoos!

心の中に弱い風が吹いています。

I don't understand why anyone would want a tattoo.

Hey capiton, read the post above strafe's!

Why waste my time, you are just trying to revalidate a -blam!- opinion.

You made those statements, and have been trying to smooth them out and change your stance. Stand by your remarks or admit you were wrong to say so, or do you lack dignity son?

Alright whatever don't read it.

I read it. It really doesn't help what you've been trying to argue in this thread.

While everything a person does is a reflection of themselves, assuming one specific thing, getting a tattoo in this instance, is always done for the same reason by everyone is just stupid. To think that you can judge a persons character and go on to make sweeping generalizations about them based solely on their desire to get a tattoo is pretty well the definition of prejudice.

That you are also acting bigoted in this thread is simply a reflection of your own character.

Ah, oh well. I do not like tattoos. Period. Regardless, I don't see it as a personal character flaw as long as I don't treat those people differently because of it. I should think how I feel, otherwise i'd be lying to myself. That's where my integrity lays.

When I look at someone who has a tattoo, I ask myself...why.

Why? Because, if done right, they look good.

Oh, and you are by definition being a bigot. No arguments.

Well I brought up the fact I want a tattoo for my 17th birthday and I was shot down faster than a Black Hawk in Somalia. So flood how to I go about convincing my parents that I should be able to have a tattoo?
