Any ideas why? I tried changing the settings a ton, and doing everything I can, but it won't even run at a steady 30 frames. :|

Does running off a browser make it run worse than downloading it and playing it normally?

Help me PC smart/Minecraft using Flood.

That... makes little sense.

Then again, my computer can run Skyrim and Battlefield 3 without any difficulty at all, but when I try to bump GTA IV up past medium, it -blam!-s its self. Technology is puzzling.

Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

Just download it, browser makes it run like a meat slap in a conveyor belt that's stopped suddenly.

Your laptop most likely has some sort of switchable graphics. Make sure Minecraft is on high and not power saving. Also make sure you have 64-bit java(assuming you have a 64-bit os.)

And so the war of Gods and Demons shall begin. Tomorrow will end with your heart in my hand!

Love ya! =3

You... can play Skyrim... but not... Minecraft?
I don't see any issue here.

Not that surprising, considering Minecraft's basically a jumble of half-assed Java.

My laptop can run Battlefield 3 at a steady locked 30 frames with fraps running (Steady 50 without fraps) on medium, and skyrim at a steady 60 lol, but it wants to die when it runs Minecraft. I don't understand it.

"Ignorance is a plague."

Close, but the plague killed those infected with it, and the ignorant are still alive.
I wish ignorance was a plague.

It's probably a problem with your internet. Just download the game.

Muffins are just ugly cupcakes

Optifine

With this mod, even my nearly 4-year old laptop can run it.

If it has decent GPU but very little RAM that might explain it.

Minecraft takes a lot of RAM to deal with the MASSIVE map and all the particles in it, but it's not very graphics intensive.

Hello.

Java is really bad for games.

Like.. unimaginably bad. The only thing I recommend with it is browser-based games.

Small Community, Lots of Fun. We do Halo, Minecraft, and much more.

I think Mojang said that they are going to build in Optifine in their next update, so it should run better sometime.

Wait, it's at $30 now? Damn I'm glad I bought it when it was $5.

Minecraft destroys computers for some reason, it's not just yours.

To help, install Optifine.

I'm not too sure about running it in the browser vs. the normal method.

GTA4 wasn't ported to the PC well and it doesn't utilize its resources very well due to their coding.

I think it is less than that, but $30 is the rounded up price. Though it has been that way for a long time.

I can run Minecraft well at 50 fps with LB Photo Realism pack...

I think the game is just dependent on the CPU and amount of RAM.

  • 12.17.2012 8:55 PM PDT

Try downloading more RAM. You can find it at xbox.com

8GBs of RAM, that should be fine, or I hope.
