If it has decent GPU but very little RAM that might explain it.

Minecraft takes a lot of RAM to deal with the MASSIVE map and all the particles in it, but it's not very graphics intensive.
8GBs of RAM, that should be fine, or I hope.

This question is mostly for me cause I'm trying to learn more about computers, but is it 2 cards of 4GB RAM or just one card of 8GB RAM?

EDIT: Or 4 cards of 2GB RAM...Whatever you have.
1 8GB card. With 2 slots left for more RAM.

It doesn't really matter how it is broken up as long as they are all compatible.

For Minecraft, download it and then install the "Optifine" mod. You can find it through Google.

MC is a lot more CPU-intensive, while Skyrim is more GPU-intensive. Obviously, your GPU is better than your CPU in terms of bottlenecking.

Sounds like an optimization issue.

Playing it off the browser may very well be hurting your performance, as Windows or the browser might be trying to limit it's memory allocation, meaning your computer has to work harder to generate scenery quick enough.

Oh okay, thank you. Didn't know whether it mattered for Minecraft or not.

Nah it wouldn't affect his ability to run Minecraft. 8GB is more than enough to run Minecraft. If anything the issue the OP is facing is is CPU. It is a common misconception Minecraft is really easy to run when it actually does require a decent CPU along with a fair amount of RAM. The main reason why he is able to run Skyrim without any problems is due to how Skyrim was meant to be able to run on consoles and was for the most part ported to the PC.

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

Brighten your day with science.

Does running off a browser make it run worse than downloading it and playing it normally?
Well there's your problem

I know everything, I've just forgotten most of it.

Also, my XBL Gamertag is 'Wenggh', not 'A Stolen Fruit'.

My Laptop used to not be able to run Minecraft, then I turned on the not Intergrated Graphics card and I got a good 60FPS on Fancy Graphics with Far render distance!

Hey I am a big Bungie fan ever since I played Halo 2. I love the series, I love Bungie. I have made a few Bungie logos in my metal shop.

JUst download it

Similar thing happened to me with Skyrim. When I first got it I could only run it on low, which made no sense to me. I later realized that it was using my Integrated Graphics Card for some reason. I fixed that, so now I can run it on High-Ultra.

My CPU is an i7, Quadcore, 2.2 ghz, can go to 2.8. :/

In that case it is most likely the fact you are running the damn browser version. Just download it.

blarg.

1. Minecraft uses Java, which is an extraordinarily resource heavy environment.

2. Skyrim is much more efficient when it comes to playability on low-powered machines (where it matters) and as such whatever is slowing you down in Minecraft is able to keep up with Skyrim.

3. While Skyrim looks nicer, Minecraft is a lot more sophisticated and heaver on your CPU. It is possibly this that is the bottleneck. Minecraft by default also does not use anymore than 2 CPU cores, so if you have a clock speed lower than 2.5 GHZ you may have performance issues.

Like others have said, download the game and install Optifine.
