So, I normally like to buy CDs if I can, but I was given a 15$ iTunes gift card the other day and need some opinions on which band to spend it on. Overkill's "Immortalis" album, Overkill's "Ironbound" album, Annihilator's Refresh the Demon" album, or Annihilator's "Schizo Deluxe" album. I tried to pick albums I like that I have trouble finding the CDs for. So Flood, gimme your opinions :)

Shakes Magic 8 Ball

I just ordered the Collector's Edition version of Amnesiac. So I'll vote with relevancy.

Though I do love my Silent Comedy CD. I had it signed by the band members and even talked to Jeremiah on how their music ended up being on the Dark Souls trailers.

Based on your list I do not see you liking my type of music but I will recommend Dark Side of The Moon to anyone and everyone I meet as a gateway album into Pink Floyd and psychedelic prog rock.

Pink Floyd is good. I've been listening to my dad's copy of "The Wall" lately, may look into Dark Side of The Moon too. Thanks :D

I agree, although DSOTM is kind of a cheapo Walmart cd. Not hard to find.

Ironbound>>>>>>>>>>>>> Immortalis

I'd get Ironbound on CD if I were you though, so you might want to be experimental with that gift card.

Yea I agree, after thinking about it, I decided that if I'm gonna go Overkill, Ironbound is the way to go. Their only other album that's as good (or better) is Horrorscope, and I've already got it. Problem is, Overkill stuff is a pain in the ass to find where I live and I hate ordering over the internet(though it may come to that).

I really wouldn't know what to reply with for the "Other" option, what kind of music are you looking for (beyond hard to find on CD)?

Mostly stuff from artists that were popular(or at least had a decent fanbase) between 70s and 90s. That's where my favorite music seems to be from.

Assuming you already own Rust in Peace, how about Killing is my Business?

The definition of "insanity" is: Doing the exact, same -blam!- thing, over and over again, expecting -blam!- to change. That is "crazy".

Also, I make pone wellpoopers.

Did I ever tell you the definition of "insanity"?

Orbital fits that criteria. Get Wonky. Awesome album.

Lol, I have pretty much everything Megadeth on CD, except an original copy of Killing is My Business, an original copy of Countdown To Extinction(only have remixed, remasters of both, want to get originals soon), and The System Has Failed(which is fairly easy to find around here, just gotta find the time to go hunting for it). Good suggestion though :)

EDIT: Now that you mention Megadeth, I should really download 99 Ways To Die!(like the only song from Hidden Treasures that wasn't on the Warchest)

That song was actually pretty cool to listen to, thanks for the post :)

EDIT(again): My makeshift quoting killed the link :/

If you could tell me what you think of these 2 songs I may have some recommendations.

The Moor

Oblivion

The Opeth song started and I was pretty optimistic with the cool opening. Then the death metal vocals started and I just couldn't get into it. The Mastadon song though was pretty good, not as many different riffs as I'm used to, but pretty good overall. Thanks, I may look more into some of Mastadon's stuff :)

Now that I've got a better sense of your taste I can make some recommendations.

On the Mastodon note, checkout the albums: Crack the Skye, Leviathan, Blood Mountain, and The Hunter.

If you're looking for some softer, but still good music, checkout the Opeth album Damnation (no death growls).

Other bands you may enjoy: The Hives (see: The Black and White Album), Pearl Jam (see: Ten), Godsmack (see: Faceless), Deftones (see: Whitepony), System of a Down (see: Hypnotize, or any of their stuff really).

Opeth without death growls sounds promising, I'll be sure to check out the other bands you listed as well, thanks. Oh and no need to try and convert me into an SoaD fan, I already am one :D
