Subject: Gunman tries to open fire at movie theater and off duty cop drops him

Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

Stupid. A tazer would have stopped him and left him alive to face trial and be punished for his crimes. The dead don't suffer.
Hopefully, anti-gun control people will open their eyes and see that you don't need guns to stop crimes from becoming much more serious. This is a perfect example.

His body would have locked up and he would have squeezed off multiple rounds while being tazed.

...which can't really be said about my Deviant Art Page however.

For those of you mentioning tazer, there are times a tazer does absolutely nothing to it's intended victim. Bullets don't have that problem, which is a good and bad quality set alone to guns.

And as mentioned above, the muscle contractions could be extremely bad especially considering the possibility of an automatic weapon, or even bomb. The only sure way to drop without reflex is right between the eyes head-on. Tazers can't do that.

But, he was an off duty cop. He's have a gun regardless if they were banned or not.

You chose a bad example, bro.

Chose a bad example? My ngga there are literally hundreds of examples that show legal concealed weapons for good.

none of which raise the quality of this example.

For some reason the link perpetually loads and the screen stays white. Does it mention the condition of the civilian the gunman shot?

Here brah

With one shot, an off-duty sheriff's deputy took down a gunman who attempted to opened fire at a crowded movie theater lobby during a late night showing of "The Hobbit" in San Antonio, WOAI reports.

Police say a gunman, identified as Jesus Manuel Garcia, chased patrons from the nearby China Garden Restaurant into the lobby of the Santikos Mayan 14 movie theater at around 9 p.m. on Sunday. Garcia, an employee of the restaurant, reportedly walked in the establishment looking for a woman.

When the woman, also reportedly a restaurant employee, wasn't there, Garcia pulled out a gun and attempted to open fire in the restaurant but his weapon jammed.

"It started at the restaurant and then went into the parking lot and then into the movie theater," Deputy Lou Antu told 1200 WOAI news.

The commotion sent horrified restaurant patrons into the movie theater lobby, but the gunman followed. He again attempted to open fire, and this time his gun didn't jam. Garcia reportedly shot one man in the chest before Antu says an off-duty sheriff's deputy working security the theater shot him once, dropping him to the floor.

Bexar County sheriff's Sgt. Lisa Castellano reportedly chased the gunman toward the back of the theater. The 13-year department veteran cornered him after he ran into a men's restroom and shot him before taking his gun.

"The officer involved, she took the appropriate action to try to keep everyone safe in the movie theater," Antu added.

Due to the off-duty deputy's bravery, the gunman was not able to make it into the theater where he could have potentially taken many lives.

The gunman and the man he shot remain hospitalized, according to WOAI.

Police say a recent breakup set off the man's shooting spree on Sunday, MySanAntonio.com reports.

Jesus Manuel Garcia, 19, an employee at a China Garden restaurant next to the Santikos Mayan Palace 14 theater, apparently became upset Sunday night after his girlfriend broke up with him.
He lashed out by sending her a message saying he planned to go to the restaurant and "shoot somebody," said Bexar County sheriff's Sgt. Raymond Pollard.
Pollard said the woman called to warn restaurant employees, but by the time she saw his message, Garcia was already outside the China Garden firing a Glock 23 at the front door about 9:25 p.m.
If Garcia survives his attempt at mass murder, officials say he will likely face a charge of attempted capital murder as he allegedly shot at the San Antonia police car on Southwest Military Drive as he ran from the restaurant and into the theater.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

Same could happen if you shoot him.
Rubber bullets/other nonlethal rounds/tazers are the best thing for civilians to have. They can stop the threat and not kill them. Win-win.

The notion that the only way to stop a gunman is to kill him is childish and uneducated.

That's excellent to hear. The psycho was stopped before he could do any more damage!

And yeah, what IS with all these shootings lately? There was a shooting just a couple days ago at a local mall near where I live... Luckily nobody was hurt and the man was just firing a gun into the air, but wtf?
"2012 IM GOING OUT IN STYLE" or "IM SAVING YOU ALL!" I have stupid people for this reason.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. It coulda' been another mass shooting had the lunatic fired at people...

People should just chill out and throw an end of the world party, that's much better!

I have no problem with a basic hunting rifle and a basic self defense pistol.

everyone should have the right to these two guns.

HOWEVER we do need to ban the selling of automatic and highpowered weapons all together. Those weapons were never designed for collecting or admiration, they are designed and made to kill people.

gun shows are where most of the killers get their crap anyway.

You do know that the only automatic weapons that civilians are allowed to own are ones made before 1986 correct? If so, you would also know that these weapons cost tens of thousands of dollars depending on the condition. Automatic weapons are not easily acquired and the only ones that have them are, more than likely, collectors. So I conclude that you don't actually know what you are talking about and think that just because a weapon has the same design as ones used by the military, they must be the same quality as civilian models. Also, "high powered" is an incredibly vague term. There are plenty of hunting rifles that are considered "high powered." Stop regurgitating everything you hear mommy and daddy and mrs. teacher say, because they don't know what they are talking about either.

I don't care that the gun guy was shot I just care that innocent people didn't get killed. The cop could've used his car to stop him and I would've been happy or stunned him.

I'm going to love watching pro-gun people hold up this single example of a gunman stopping a shooting while ignoring all the ones they didn't stop, or the ones that wouldn't happen if crazy people couldn't get guns.

inb4flamedtothemax
I actually rather disagree that this one case will be held to light as evidence for or against any one side in the gun debate. Situations such as these never see their semantics come to fruition.

Regardless, you could also look at many past shootings and find that those in which the gunman and victims had guns, the gunman was stopped much earlier than predicted had his victims not had guns to defend themselves. Thing is, that case rarely ever happens because even in conceal carry states many civilians don't bring guns to public places like schools, restaurants, and movie theatres.

Besides, the way I see it the maniacs who acquire guns for the purpose of intending to murder other human beings are always able to find a gun. Illegal or not. It doesn't matter how strict the gun control laws are, anybody who wanted to can get a gun somewhere. The differences arise in where the gunman of all these heinous crimes don't care about carrying the gun if their intent with it is to murder another human being. The strict-gun laws don't stop them, they stop the good-will civilians who never have any intent of massacre. The only people obeying the anti-gun laws are the ones without the intent or messed up mindset to kill; they are the victims.

There have been a grand total of 2 murders with an National Firearms act registered item.

That means, short barrel shotguns, short barrel rifles, suppressors, and automatic weapons.

NFA was created in 1934.

Exactly, I would rather wait 10-15 minutes (at absolute best) for the police to show up if there was a gunman near me. I think I could probably dodge him for that long.
