Shush, you might anger the entitlement generation. The government is made to satisfy their demand for handouts, now.

LMAO! So true.

It has been working out quite well in Canada, France, Norway etc.

lol. No, it's not.

Go read about it from legitimate sources, not some media hogwash.
It's still better than that shameful excuse for a health care system the USA has.

Must be why American sergeons have high success rates, we have readily available medicine, and can take care of everyone in an emergency room without making them wait a few days.

Ability of US doctors and access to them are two VERY different things.

If social programs are so bad, why don't we get rid of all of them?

Schools, roads, utilities, the military...

because we can't! Damn idiots running this country. Good Lord, there are so many things that FDR alone implemented that have caused nothing but chaos among the American government. Libs constantly want to expand upon his poorly implemented social policies.

lol Really?

then why do so many try to come to America for care?
Because those few who go to the states have more money. They can afford the shorter wait times. For the less fortunate, they have the public health care system in Canada where they can get the care they need.

Unfortunately for those people, we have much longer wait times in Canada because of a lack of doctors.

I'm not saying it is perfect, but it treats the less fortunate more fairly. I would much rather live under the health care system here in Canada than is the USA.

Then how come other countries have no problem running a socialized healthcare system?

Probably because their tax system is better, lower population, been doing it for so long that they have a valid economic foundation, or don't have that many sick people to begin with. Some reasons more valid than others.

Lower population means less people paying into the system. A public healthcare system I. America would probably flourish.

Yes, more would use it, but remember not everyone uses a hospital - I'm British and have only been a few times in my life. This means they have had more money off me for the system than I have ever used.

Also, ours in Britain works fine enough. Yes, it's a bit rough around the edges, and you may have to wait, but depending on the seriousness they are free to move you up 'the list'.

Ours would work better if half the people who used it weren't jobless deadbeat families on benefits, but that's another topic.

Apparently I'm an idiot for thinking people should have access to healthcare.

No, you're an idiot because you completely ignore the economics, in other words, the real world application behind the concept.
Protip: Economics is not a "real world application".

No, that's not how it works at all. People with less money or on welfare don't pay -blam!- for taxes, while people who have money pay significantly more. Statistically speaking, families that have money are going to be paying for Cleetus, Jose, and Shaniquatoya, while those parties won't be contributing all that much.

Also, what about those who don't have/rarely have medical issues? they're literally paying for other people, while not receiving anything in return.
The system should work that if you have medical issues, you have to pay for it yourself, if you can't, tough -blam!-.

And for my final point, the government's job is to create and maintain order, not take care of every little aspect of everyone's life.

You know, it's really easy to say tough love when you live on the top (Obviously, you don't have any financial problems, because you have the time to come here and post), but if you DID in fact have a hard time with money, due to the area or family you were born into, you would find that;

~Getting a decent education is a lot more difficult than "just going to school."
~Affording a basic lifestyle does not really allow for very many medical expenses, much less any serious costs, so you try working for just above minimum wage with Diabetes, and tell me how much you like tough love.

A lot of people need to stop looking at it from their pretty little high chair that mommy and daddy have provided for them since they were born. At the same time, others need to clear that liberal haze and realize that we can't just pay for other people's way through life. There IS a middle ground, so let's get there together.

Also, I'm done posting in this thread, it's political.

Unless you have some kind of source to validate your claims/predictions, you have no foundation for that argument. We are the only developed nation in the world without universal health care. Educate yourself.

That doesn't seem like a very reliable source.

Man, it's too bad that the socialized healthcare has raised overall levels of human inequality, prolonged life expectancy, and has contributed to greater happiness compared to countries that don't have it...

Apparently I'm an idiot for thinking people should have access to healthcare.
newsflash: nothing in this world is free, and most of us sure as hell don't want to pay for other people.
But you're not paying for other people; everyone is paying for everyone. I never said it was free. I know the difference between free and taxpayer-subsidized.
No, that's not how it works at all. People with less money or on welfare don't pay -blam!- for taxes, while people who have money pay significantly more. Statistically speaking, families that have money are going to be paying for Cleetus, Jose, and Shaniquatoya, while those parties won't be contributing all that much.

The same argument can be applied to public school systems. Why should families with no children pay for kids to go to school?
coming from someone who has been through both public and private education, I can honestly say that the public school system is -blam!-. Why do the same to our health care.

And as for your argument of "do away with other government run programs like roads and military". Again, the point of the government is to create and maintain order, the military and a functioning mass transit system go hand in hand with that. Thus, nullifying your argument.
