No, because the term of nerd generally means "applies self to academia, has very little (if any friends), has difficulty in social situations, etc."
I have friends and get along well with almost anyone I meet. I don't understand the fixation on nerds in popular culture that's sprung up in the last, what, 12 months? I even started to see it on Facebook back when I had Facebook (deleted it in January because I didn't want or need it). People want to look like a nerd because they think it's cool, without actually being one, because that's actually lame. It's sort of like trying to have your cake and eat it too; you want to associate with demograph A to look cooler in the eyes of demograph B, but then you want to be like demograph B because actually being like demograph A is pathetic and socially introvert.
I suppose Maddox summed it up better than I ever could, though.
