As for whoever said the Engineers are the only Covenant race that can think creatively, think again.
In the level Oracle, the heretic leader went through a door and then sealed it. All the Elites thought that the Heretic leader would escape, but the Arbiter comes up with the idea of cutting the cable. That's Elite mental skillz.
Who would've thought of that? Huh? Anybody?
Not what i was saying. Read the -blam!- books. The covenant are not INNOVATIVE. They cant think of their own technology. This makes them DUMB. The engineers are the ones that find and understand the technology as well as fix it. EX. The covenant started making AI's molded after our AI's. another ex. Cortana used the ship to jump across slipspace when inside a planet's atmosphere. Then the covenant stole the idea and it worked. So who cares if the Heretic guy can shut a dam door. My dog can press my doorbell to tell me he wants inside.

In halo 2 that factor was missing, I mean, you handed their butts to them on a silver platter when you blew up the halo, now their back and want more, but, whats this, they can speak your language? How did that happen, did they take English 101 or something, I mean they don't even have an accent for goodness sake. I don't think I explained myself very well but, there's just that missing factor that made me dislike them.
Very good question. The answer is in the books. Cortana mixed a Covenant translator for english along with a Human translator for Covenant dialect to get a very accurate translator. I still dont understand how the arbiter could understand the Master Cheif. If you ask me they should have tried to shown the covenants side. In fact. Halo's storyline should have just gone down a different path if you ask me The covenant should never have broken apart etc.... But that will never happen. All we can do is hope that Sergent Johnson joins us and we get to kill every single last bastard (including the elites).... And yet again i seriously doubt it will be like that.
